Last week I was able to send out an e-mail to the entire student body, the main purpose being to increase the interaction between the student government and the student body. So thanks for the e-mails that you sent me so far. That is seriously what I want, to know your ideas and suggestions. The first e-mail I received was addressing the concern of the Ride Board. The T5C used to have a Ride Board where students could post where they were going and basically carpool together. The administration took it out of the TSC a few years ago and put it online, which has rendered it useless. With the schools push to become more sustainable, this is a perfect time to resurrect the ride board and increase planned hitchhiking. But I would have never thought of it on my own. The administration here at USU is really great; they are out to help the students. They W put trust in us as a student government, and so we really can make changes and get things done. Just over the summer we had an idea to open up the third floor area so that it would be more accessible to students. We talked with Gary Chambers, vice president of Student Services, and the next week they were ripping out some unnecessary doors. Now the point of all this is to let you know that if you have something that is bothering you, there are people that can a n d want to help. And if you want to be the catalyst for change, then you can do it. So come up to the third floor, grab a ping pong paddle, and then let us know what you want done with your university. » i v . ^ ^ * 1 • Y^*' ^ 4 ' i • f : • i *••••;•'.,' ; .''•• J continued from page 14 : ' _*•*- •• \ \ v ^ » X » & - ' : ; / i A /^SfT.•>, • • iJ r * M l Hi w / ... Does a choice even exist, then? The absence of ideology is, after all, simply another ideology. What I espouse, then, is an anti-politics, a methodology where we exclude ourselves from our own circles of pundits and ideologues, the patterns of power that relegate to us roles as spectators to humanity's suffering. What more than a masochistic gesture of self-exclusion could cause us to identify with that person who is, quite simply, not " I , " not "you," not "us?"
