After riding through the cold, slippery roads, he went to dismount and roll into his drive when he hit a slab of ice six feet in front of his door that left him on his backside. "I just didn't see the ice," He said. He added his commute does take him straight up 400 North, and he has had his share of close calls of the four-wheeled vehicle kind. A Utah statute stipulates that automobiles must pass all cyclists with a minimum of three feet, but Christensen said he has to remind people with his middle finger at least once every morning. On occasion, he said he finds the same driver is pushing him off the road day after day. Besides bad drivers, Christensen said, "It is liberating to be free from your car." He said most people think they are going to be restricted by not being able to drive, but tend to find the opposite to be true. Closer parking, being warm when arriving places and not having to shovel the drive to get the car out are all perks of riding bikes. Accountants Inc. Ada County Sheriff's Adams & Smith. Inc.
