Iverson surged from behind in the fan voting to earn a starting spot in next month's game when the vote totals were released Thursday night. Denver Nuggets teammate Carmelo Anthony will join him in New Orleans after earning his first starting nod. Lakers star Kobe Bryant will team with Iverson in the Western Conference backcourt for his 10th All-Star appearance. Houston center Yao Ming was voted in by the fans for the sixth straight season at center, while San Antonio's Tim Duncan was chosen as the other forward. He has been selected to every All-Star game since entering the league in 1997. Boston's Kevin Garnett, the MVP of the 2003 game, was the leading vote-getter with 2,399,148 votes. He will be joined in the East frontcourt by Cleveland forward LeBron James and Orlando center Dwight Howard, a first-time starter. Miami's Dwyane Wade and New Jersey guard Jason Kidd round out the starting lineup. K-Rob: Scored twice at Shrine game 01 continued from page 9 significant contribution in this type of game? KR: It wasn't like a big deal. Most of us were just out there having fun. It was just like another game. It wasn't really a structurized, competitive usversus-them rivalry. It was just out there having fun like you would in the backyard. US: How do you feel your performance affected your NFL opportunities? KR: I don't really pay too much attention to it. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people in my situation that have done good in an all-star game but ended up going as a free agent in a late round. I'm just waiting for draft day, and wherever I go from there is where I go. I don't pay attention to whether my stock has gone up because it doesn't matter until draft day. US: Are you excited for the NFL combine Feb. 20-26? KR: That's the next thing I'm training for. Hopefully I do well in that. After that it's draft day. US: Do you know what will happen at the combine? KR: They do a bunch of drills and a couple interviews with every team to talk to you and get to know you more personally. I'm still training with some of the players and with the team, staying in shape so when I go in there I'm not fatigued. US: Some players have an agent, some don't. What's your situation? KR: It's kind of hard to tell. They put you in a group and say this is where you may go, this is where you could go. Nobody really knows until draft day. I really don't listen to much to it. My agent has been telling me you could go early as third round to free agent and I'm like, that's nice. But until draft day comes, that's when we'll know. I don't think about it too much. US: If the NFL didn't work out, what else would you do? KR: You never know what's going to happen. Football is a funny game. You could be at the highlight of your life and then the next play you could be injured and done with football. I just take it one day at a time. Whatever happens, happens. If football's done for me and I need to do other stuff, I'll probably go back home and work on coaching or teaching some classes. But until that day comes and they tell me I can't play football anymore, football is what I'm doing. US: If there was one NFL team you could play for, which would it be? KR: I would say the team that pays me the most. Actually, it really doesn't matter where I go. My goal is to just get in there. As long as I get there, that's my biggest goal. After that, my next goal is whoever pays me the most. Right now I'm kind of poor, so it would be a little different with a lot of money. US: Who is your Super Bowl pick? KR: I really don't care too much for the teams, but I guess I'll go for the underdogs, the Giants. I'm more focused on what I have to do than what's going on in the NFL right now. I'm more focused on myself right now. I have to sell myself. -samuel. hislop@aggiemail. usu.edu Fast StatS • Returned punt 12 yards and then flipped into the end zone for touchdown. • Caught a fiveyard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. • Ended the game with four catches for 28 yards. • Robinson is training for NFL combine, which takes place Feb. 20-26 in Indianapolis. USU decreased its falls in its last dual against Boise State to four, Corn said, and he would like to continue this type of improvement. The elimination of the number of falls the team has had and the improvement on scoring this season is an indication of "a springboard to success," Corn said. Freshman Lyndsie Boone said she is optimistic on the season's outlook as the team has improved every meet. "I think once we win, it will set the pace for the rest of the season," she said. "We just need to really work on our endurance." The Titans will be a tough battle for the Aggies, as their gym is a difficult place to win, Corn said. "(The Titans) brag that they have the toughest judging in the country," Corn said. "The scores are not going to be indicative of our success, but we need to go in there and not have to count a fall and come out successful." Cal State Fullerton recorded a season-high score of 191.025 in a quad meet Jan. 20 against UCLA, Brown University and Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where they placed second out of four teams. ByCANDICESANDNESS staff writer Utah State gymnastics will face off against Cal State Fullerton in a conference dual Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Titan Gym. Utah State has topped previous meet scores every time since its season began, and it marked a season-high team score of 192.400 last meet against Boise State, despite a loss. Gymnastics head coach Ray Corn said he is content with the improvement the team has been having but would like to start hitting a stride where the team is performing in meets with "absolutely no falls whatsoever." "I couldn't be any more pleased (with the team's progress)," Corn said. "(Our development) has not only been reflected in our floor of competition but also on our ability to score." Utah State is 0-3 overall and in the Western Athletic Conference, and Cal State Fullerton is 3-2, 1-1 in the WAC. "We are disappointed in the 0-3 start, but we are very pleased with starting with a high 187 and then going to a 191 and now a mid-192 (in the following meets)," Corn said. In the Aggies' first meet against Boise State, they suffered 11 major mistakes or falls. Although Utah State has a higher season score than Cal State Fullerton, Corn said it would be difficult to judge how a team is solely based on scores. "You don't know how many times they fell, and you don't know if the judging was extremely difficult," he said. He said the Aggies will be going after more difficult vaults, which is the only change in the team's routines. "We will always try to continue to upgrade the difficulty on our last passes on floor exercise," he said. The team looks to solidify its performance and assert more aggressiveness on the uneven parallel bars, Corn said. "We need to not compete our bars with such great caution," he said. "When we compete with caution, that leads to mistakes." ' Utah State gymnastics is currently ranked 46th in the Troester's Gymnastics Poll, while Cal State Fullerton is j : ranked 43th nationally.
