No. There's a little thing that I like to call the triple team, and I'm fairly sure coaches in the NBA have heard of it too. Why not put 60 percent of your team on Kobe? The rest of the Lakers suck. I'm sure the stars that sit courtside are on par, basketball-wise, with Kobe's teammates. Hell, maybe someone will even start elbowing Kobe in the face. That'd be funny. As long as Kobe gets to jack up at least 30 shots a game, he will score more than 40 points a game, And since the Lakers don't have too many alternative options, Coach Jackson has given Kobe the green light to keep shooting. He has tried being a team player and sharing the ball, but his team lost. In the last five games, he has averaged 53 ppg and the team is 5-0. Look for Kobe to shoot every time he touches the bail. UtahState From Well UNIVERSITY You Uughta Know 2. Who will win the NCAA Championship? Well, after watching UCLA beat the team that scared me the most in the tournament, Kansas, I think they will take home the Siemens trophy. Yeah, that's what the trophy for winning the tournament is called - very unsatisfying, I know - but that's beside the point. UCLA has Arron Afflalo, who is coming out of his slump, and they're better on defense than any of the other Final Four teams. Plus, bears are awesome and bruins are bears. What, you didn't know that? I first have to correct my error from last week. When typing in the final four from my bracket, I accidentally typed in both Georgetown and North Carolina. I realized after the paper had been published my error and my real pick was Georgetown and Ohio State. This means I went four for four in my final four picks, in the finals, 1 pick Florida over Georgetown. 3. Who will the NCAA Tournament MVP be? Since the best player in college basketball - Kevin Durant - is out of the tourney, it's hard to pick one. Greg Oden hasn't been very dominating. Florida doesn't just have one superstar. I'm going to have to go with UCLA's Arron Afflalo. He came out of his early-round slump, and I expect him to lead the Bruins to the title. And once again, I love bears. ' .. . I know that the MVP usually comes from the winning team, and since I think Florida will win, I am going to go against this supposed rule. I have loved watching Jeff Green from Georgetown play. His stats aren't aweinspiring, but his late game play is. Every time G-town has needed a lift, Green has been the one to provide it. He made the game-winning shot against Vanderbilt. I know he traveled, but it was still a tough shot and was huge down the stretch against North Carolina. 4. Should fighting be allowed in the NHL? This is absurd. That's like asking if cake should be allowed on birthdays. Or, that's like asking if beer should be allowed in a bar serving buffalo wings. Or, that's like asking if thousands of dollars should be allowed in my wallet. Basically, if the NHL doesn't allow fighting, it would lose all its street cred, and much of its super-important, bar-fighting demographic. I turned the TV on to watch some hockey, and I tried all of the ESPN stations, NBC, FOX, CBS and ABC trying to find hockey, but I never found it. Then I stumbled across some obscure channel called Versus and found a fighting match on. I left it on the channel and after a minute realized that these fighters were wearing ice skates and pads and had hockey sticks, if I really want to see fighting, I watch UFC or Pride fighting. The NHL needs to decide if they want to be a professional sports league or a fight club. Regulating the fights or even eliminating fighting should be considered. 5. Weekly rant I don't want to seem like I'm pounding this into the ground, but bears are awesome. By now it's become pretty apparent to you that ve lost my mind. I assure you that happened long ago. Basically, with my ranting about bears, I want to advise those mild sports fans on how to pick a team. Go with the most pissed off mascot. Anything dangerous, like.a bear, works very well. So you shouldn't say you aren't rooting for anyone ever again. scores and headlines at www.utahstatesman.com Every ring priced UNMR 5999.99 Slot** Hoars Hoarfay- Saturday 12kOO-feOO If s time to see things the way they rsalHy a r ( 797.1660 -V Hell; With talk of the NFL draft, college basketball and the NBA all going on right now, I love being a sports fan. But I realize that soon, for me, will come the worst time of the year for sports. Once the NBA playoffs are over, Sports Center will consist of baseball, baseball and more baseball. This is my time to take a break from ESPN and the arduous tasks of following scores and highlights. While ! don't particularly enjoy this time of year, I hope there are people out there that do, at least for the sake of baseball.
