Show 1:2005fi Aggies roll over Tigers News Tip? Story Idea? 797-NEWS BY G . CHRISTOPHER TERRY in Style Staff Writer The Aggies held the Occidental College Tigers to 14.8 percent shooting in the second half as they prevailed 66-38 Friday night in the Spectrum. "The second half, they had a really hard time scoring. They had like four field goals or whatever and I thought we played harder and got a little bit over the nerves," Coach Stew Morrill said after the game. The Tigers were up by one point with one second to go in the first half and the Spectrum crowd was subdued when Nate Harris heaved an inbounds pass nearly the length of the court to find Jaycee Carroll, who flipped it in to give the Aggies a lead they wouldn't relinquish. "Jaycee had a really stupid foul at the end of the half and I think he was trying to make up for it," Morrill said. Harris said the play is an option in the team's pressbreaker if it's open. "I went back to my quarterback days, reminded myself I used to be able to throw it and Jaycee was able to catch it and put it in." Harris led the Aggies with 16 points and was joined in double figures by Carroll and Cass Matheus, who had 12 each. Sam Betty led the Tigers with 13 points and nine rebounds. Matheus also put his size advantage to good use, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds and blocking four shots. "It's an exhibition game. They don't get to have them in football," Morrill said. -graham@cc.usu.edu • BUTTERFINGERS From page 8 Fumbles weren't the Aggies' only problem. They also racked up six penalties for a total of 70 yards including a 15-yard penalty for an offensive facemask call on Jackson. Guy said he had never seen a quarterback called for such a penalty. "Usually on a personal foul you have to pull it or twist it," he said. "They said he grabbed it and twisted it." Jackson said, "The guy had a visor on, so I would see that it's difficult for me to grab his facemask. I just asked the referee what I could do to prevent that from happening and he had an answer for me." In the third quarter, USU unsuccessfully tried a fake punt on a fourth down and three situation. "That's the first time that hasn't worked," Guy said. "The first guy ran by him, the second guy jumped on him. The guy made a nice play." The Bulldogs took the next six plays to go 43 yards for a touchdown to push the score to 20-10. John Chick led the Aggie defense with two sacks for 17 yards and seven total tackles. Robinson led the Aggies in receiving with 131 yards on nine catches.
