Spetman hired Guy after I'iring Mick Dennehy in December. exciting" Spetman said his biggest challenge has been the financial situation of the athletic department. "I guess it's a little more challenging than I thought," he said. "Financially we've had little to spend on the programs. As we head into the WAC we will go in with the lowest operating budget. So it's a challenge to me to get us up in the middle of that pack. That's my biggest challenge." Spetman insisted the situation would get better. •'[USU] President Stan Albrecht has committed to helping it get better," he said. "The exposure of the WAC is going to help us get more sponsorships. It's a good picture ahead of us, but you have to work pretty hard to get there. It's going to get better. " Spetman said his success as AD has been a result of the student athletes. "I've been very busy," he said. "But I just think the student athletes have stepped up in both the classroom and the athletic field." -bhhin ton@cc. usu. edu SOFTBALL NJ TS- £Z NJ S. hi IP f OR CUKTIOIJS £ON!TACT C&S&L S0&/ICS UTAH HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AUTHORITY From Page 6 W . ••"}•••> ' J I WHS.'•HIP \ i. Sunday's game began early with a homer to left field hit by Fleming in the first inning. But CSF was unable to score after two ground outs and a line out to third base. In the second inning the Aggies were able to load the bases. After Vlahos was struck out, Fleming was hit by a wild pitch allowing one runner in for a 2-0 Aggies lead. USU was able to score one more run before the end of the inning. CSF was not stopped by the lead, however, and came forward with another rally A Titan was hit by a pitch loading the bases and CSF's Tiffany Hoff, doubled to right center sending in all three on base, to bring the score up to 3-4. An Aggie defense and pitcher change, Straight for Garnett, in the bottom of the second stopped the rest of the Titans from reaching home. The Utah State defense stopped the Titans for the rest of the game and the Ags continued to put runs on the board. After another rally in the seventh inning the Aggies took home the win. With two outs against them in the top of the seventh inning Utah States right fielder Vlahos hit a double to start the threerun-rally. Fleming singled up the middle to advance Vlahos to third base. Hatch then came out with a homer to left field, scoring three runs to send the score to 11-4. USU next faces BYU in a doubleheader on Monday. -ranaebang@cc.usu.edu • • • • ' • - • Lacic In a larw, fixed Interest rot* '• Cot your monthly payment! • Lower yo^r ifil«ro*l rato wtfh VHKAA B-*rr*w*ff 0«n«lite i -f ^#J '^'"! % 'V^l&f-; : '.•!>' 7*1!
