Don't feel too bad. It seems like I didn't get the worst of the proverbial lunch box. My colleagues in The Chronicle office are cheese, pizza, sushi and spaghetti and meatballs. Lucky for us, an Internet quiz revealed these subliminal food associations. Otherwise, I might have gone my whole life wondering about this key component of my life. And the quizzes aren't just limited to what type of food most represents you. Over the past couple of days, my coworkers and I have glued ourselves to computer screens, seeking answers to the more significant questions of the universe, such as which Disney princesses we are and where Ryan Gosling will take us on the first date. Just kidding on that last one, but my fingers are crossed that it's a moonlit stroll in Venice. These quizzes, featured on S and The policy of The Daily Utah Chronicle is to correct any error made as soon as possible. And I'm most like the Disney movie "Brave." On that quiz, my answer even said I had nice hair like Merida. Oh Internet, stop, you're making me blush. With these quizzes, I can't help feeling like I'm in middle school again, scouring over the pages of a gossip magazine and doodling my crush's name on anything with a blank surface (I'd hate to limit it to just a notebook). But I'm much more mature than that now I own a toaster. As an aspiring journalist, I think what draws me to these seemingly juvenile quizzes is their boldness to ask offbeat questions. It's in these questions that captivating stories are born. I once asked someone I was interviewing what his favorite food is — unfortunately it was not a sandwich. I even inquired about the childhood ambitions of a famous skier. In another story, I asked what Harry Potter charac- ter most resonated with them. A lot of my favorite stories have sprouted from these "silly" questions. They often give me an angle undiscovered by the inattentive eye and overlooked by mass media. The unconventional questions expose an underlying facet — like when Seth Anderson, who married Michael Ferguson in the first same-sex marriage in Utah, said he wishes he had worn a different shirt on his wedding day. When you can literally find the answers to anything on the Internet — from how to ask a guy on a date to how to deepfry a cockroach — it becomes crucial to remember to ask the questions Google can't answer. These silly questions are what make us human. Now it's time for more important inquiries, like specifically, which type of sandwich am I? I certainly don't want to be bologna. c.tanner@chronicle.utah.edu Having no depth, 30 Draw up new 32 Log chopper 8 Finished with 35 Saw logs 9 Corrida cry 37 Illuminated 38 "Don't go winds anywhere" Beginning 49 Battlefield procedure so Part of Attila's 51 Low voices 53 Online greeting 56 Other, in Oaxaca Cancer (June 22-July 22) Defer to others. You will have liffle choice, as you clearly want to do something else. It seems as though everyone is seeking a quick assessment of his or her life. It's simple, really. You just answer a few personal questions about yourself — what is your favorite color, where is your dream house and what is your Social Security number, date of birth and credit card PIN. Then voila, the magic happens. I have learned a lot about myself through these quizzes. For instance, if I were a Jane Austen heroine, I would be Catherine Morland.
