As bad as things were for the sophomore, they got steadily worse as the first half progressed. Late in the second quarter, Wilson suffered a hand injury which sidelined him for the rest of the game. Fellow sophomore Adam Schulz spelled Wilson for the remainder of the contest and did a decent job early as the substitute signal caller, but ultimately couldn't make the necessary plays to keep the Utes in the game. Even though he played somewhat poorly at Arizona, Saturday's loss should not be put on Schulz's shoulders, as Utah made too many other mistakes. Kicker Andy Phillips, who had started the season perfect, missed two field goals. The defense, which had a goal of slowing Wildcat running back Ka'Deem Carey, allowed the junior to scamper for 236 yards. Still, the thought of Schulz being forced into extended playing time is a somewhat scary thought. Wilson's prognosis was unknown after the game, so Schulz could be the man under center next Saturday when the Utes face USC in Los Angeles, Calif. Against Arizona, Schulz seemed afraid to make plays, which in turn affected his receivers. Dres Anderson's production was reminiscent of last season, as he hauled in just two catches on the night. The inability to throw in turn negatively affected the running game, which will continue to be a problem as long as Wilson is sidelined. Utah certainly did not take care of business like it intended to in Tucson, but one game's performance will not make or break the season. However, if Wilson is sidelined for any length of time, it could spell disaster for the Utes. r.mcdonald@chronicle.utahedu VOLLEYBALL Continued from page 7 At TIAA-CREF, we want you to be confident about your retirement.
