Show DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE Thursday, March 8, 2012 5 • it at • Diggin' the dirt directly from the horse's mouth! Have you gotten your Wiz Khalifa tickets yet? About how many times have you been snowboarding or skiing this year? Do you always tap-on and tap-off of UTA buses and TRAX? Are you getting a summer job after Spring Semester? Have you tried the new Café Trang food truck on library plaza? I have not. I haven't yet. I can't afford a season pass. I do. Just my regular job. I'm keeping it, hopefully. I have not. I didn't even know it was there. No. Zero. No, I don't. No. No. Yeah, I have. Umm... none. Yup. Yeah. I haven't. Not yet. Actually none, unfortunately. No. Umm... maybe. Maybe a second part-time. No, I haven't. No, but I'm going to. Once, at Brighton. That's sad. I should go more. No, but I'm aware that I could get in trouble and get a ticket. I've seen the posters, and they're scary. Yeah, I have one all set up at Camp Kostopulos. Nope, I don't know what that is. Chris Dammert Senior, English Lenora Ott Freshman, Undecided Pascal Bhatti Freshman, Business Elizabeth Holmes Freshman, Undecided Brandon Miller Sophomore, English LETTER TO THE EDITOR Utah Rep. caucuses benefit from student participation Editor: I know that ASUU is in the middle of a campaign for officers. Similarly, the Republican caucuses are on March 15, and I would like to encourage everyone at the U to participate. If you are registered as independent, you cannot participate in the Utah Republican caucuses, and you will remain the silent majority. If you are a college student, consider returning to your home (if nearby) and participating in the caucuses with your families and neighbors. Make it a long weekend, and I am sure that your family will be glad to see you and hopefully participate with you. To only participate at the U caucuses dilutes the voice of those who are most affected by lack of education support in the Legislature. Ask your neighbors to participate. Encourage anyone that you respect to participate in the Republican caucuses and to consider running as a candidate for the Legislature. The candidate filing deadline is March 15. The fees are less than $30 for state senator and less than $15 for state representative. If you are a student, ask your parents and neighbors to participate. Last election, 16 legislative seats went unchallenged! The Republican caucus meeting starts at 7 p.m., and registration begins at 6:15 p.m. The locations for Salt Lake County can be found at www.slcogop.com. You can find your precinct designation by finding your Utah legislative district at www.clerk.slco.org. You can register online if your Utah driver's license has your correct address at www.vote.utah.gov/register-to-vote/online. The delegates that you select should reflect your priorities in education. On March 15, U students and employees will get the best chance in the next four years to increase legislative education priorities. If you do not attend caucuses (Democratic caucuses are on March 13), you really can't complain about lack of education funding.
