Show DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE 12 Wednesday, October 5, 2011 October 5, 2011 To: University of Utah Faculty, Students and Staff From: Marty Shaub Executive Director (Interim) Emergency Management and Environmental Health and Safety Re: Test of the University Emergency Communications Procedure using SMS and email only emergency alerts. (A) CAMPUS AiLou The University will be testing the ability of our alert systems and processes to reach you with emergency messages in late October. Our goal is to reach the greatest number of individuals in the quickest possible time. To that end we are going to test our text messaging and email distribution capabilities only. Now is the time to opt in your SMS text message phone number to receive emergency texts from the University if you have not yet done so. It remains the most reliable means to get urgent emergency information to you quickly no matter where you are. And we remain firm in our commitment to use this ONLY for emergency alerts and tests. Please log on and update your contact information now at campusalert.utah.edu On the day the test is performed an interactive website will be set to receive feedback. We will use the Chrony and campus emails to communicate that the test was conducted. Your feedback will help us determine how effective the system test was at reaching critical mass in our community. • Opt-in your SM text number in Campus Alert before the end of business on October 17th When you get the test alert via text or email, follow the instructions to give us feedback Enter the drawing to win an iPad2 campusalertutel f%ci |
