Show T h u r s d a y , A p r i l 27, 2Q06 DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE Whittingham championship rings stolen In September 2005, eight championship rings, valued at S500 each and belonging to U football coach Kyle Whittingham, were stolen. The rings were missing from a display case in the Dee Glen Smith Athletic Center. Police suspect they were taken sometime after the team left for Fort Worth, Texas, to play Texas Christian University. The rings have yet to be recovered. "It's upsetting," Whittingham said. "But that's not where most of our worries are now. We are trying to find a way to beat Air Force. That's far more important than my rings." Whittingham received four of the rings for U championships and the other four for Brigham Young University championships. Anyone with information regarding the missing items can call the U police at 585-2677. "I think the board of trustees is a very thoughtful entity," Gould said. "I think they have the best interest of all of die students of the university, and I think they will listen very openly to both sides of the discussion." p.muir@chronicle.utah.edu 1 You jforrt_haye_to_go to Gr_eece_for great_colurnns.
