Show RED GROSS DRIVE FOR UNOS STARTS MONDAY tintic gintic district expected to raise committees ap pointed and everything is now ready for campaign at the public library building in eureka on monday morning a meeting was held for the purpose of out lining plans for raising tintic pro portion of the money needed by the national organization of the red cross cecil fitch chairman of the finance committee of tintic gintic chapter of the red cross and also acting chairman tor for the district in the national drive tor for funds ed at monday mondays s meeting which waa was attended by mining and business men from all of the mining camps the amount asked for by the national organization in order that thai the excellent work of the red cross may be continued Is and our allotment Is 9 at the meeting on monday it was decided to ask each man in the tintic gintic district no matter what kind of work he Is doing to donate a days day s pay to the red cross the mining companies and the busl bust ness houses will also be solicited and while this may possibly bring in more than 9 any amount over that sum will be retained by the ahe local chapter of the red cross in other words this drive will be in the inter est of the national organization and the local chapter and no effort will be made to send to the former any more that the amount which tintic gintic la is expected to give reports which were submitted at the meeting last monday show that chapter of the red cross Is running short of funds and that more money must be secured or the good work curtailed and of course everyone wants to see a record breaking production of the things most needed it should be understood that this drive of the red cross Is tor for funds and not for members money must be e secured in order to restore the waste of war and to relieve distress there Is no question as to the value of the work which the organization is doing and the movement should have the endorsement of every man woman and child in the whole coun try members of the local commit tee wish it distinctly understood that no compulsory measures will be used in raising a allotment of the big fund needed everyone will however be asked to help each man in will be asked to give the equivalent of a day days s pay and it Is hardly likely that any except those who may possibly be in serious fl fi nandlal difficulties will refuse it millions of our young men can give up everything for a cause in which all of us are vitally interested those of us who remain at home should not object to giving a day days s pay we cannot contuse confuse this with the purchase of liberty bonds or war savings stamps because in these instances we are only loaning our money to the government at a good rate of interest mine superintendents will solicit the men at the various mining properties of tintic gintic a committee has been selected to visit the business houses and through the boy scouts organization every home in the dis brict will be visited thus making it a certainty that every man will be given a chance to do bis his part |
