Show WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY 02 | MyWeberMedia.com| August 24, 2020 Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This is sure to be a defining semester in the history of Weber State. The challenges of our times — a worldwide pandemic, calls for greater social and racial justice, and major economic disruptions — create amazing opportunities for unleashing creative thinking, new conversations, and engaged problem-solving. While these challenges are frequently referred to as “unprecedented,” they are not. As an educational institution, Weber has endured the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, a campus closure that lasted 18 months, rapid transitions in the delivery of academic programs to meet the demands of World War II, and many other difficulties. Weber not only survived those challenges, but emerged from each as an institution better poised to thrive in the future. You, as the Weber State students of 2020, have my complete confidence that you will also learn to thrive more vibrantly in the future through your education this semester. Our faculty and staff are more committed than ever to provide rich, individualized experiences focused on helping each of you be successful. We will meet you where you are and work with you to get to where you want to go. We have developed more tools than ever before to assist in this journey, whether your path is in person, digital, or a combination. Finally, we all realize that 2020 probably still has a few curveballs to throw at us. Remember to show yourself and those around you empathy as we balance circumstances that could be different tomorrow than they are today. Please know how dedicated your Weber State family is to working to fulfill your dreams while promoting health and safety. I appreciate each of you and your commitment to Weber State. I am looking forward to another year of success as together we pursue a trajectory that is ever upward. Respectfully, Brad Mortensen President |
