Hansen, his earthly journey surrounded by his family and friends on Easter Sunday, April.15, 2001, after a long illness with cancer, which he courageously battled with grace and great dignity. Monte was born April 17, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Marian Hansen. Being raised in a military family, Monte had the opportunity to see much of the world.- He graduated from South High in 1964, then attended the U of U and San Jose State College. _ Above all Monte loved spending time with his al mate, Linda and his two boys! His hobbies included traveling, boating, skiing, and sharing time with friends. He worked as a real estate broker and oe his own company for over 25 years. Monte is. survived by his devoted wile Linda, of 32 years; two sons, Monte Travis and Chad Aaron; brother, Steve (Venice) Hansen; sister, Sherrie Hansen; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved greatly; and his father and mother-in-law, Harry and Phyllis Wiseman. The event will take place again this year at the Inn on the Creek in Midway on Friday, May 18. According to Bicad of the Library President, Joni Campbell, live entertainment, silent auction, and prizes will again be featured at the event in addition to a fabulous dinner prepared by the Inn on The Creek. “Everyone in the anmna tity uses the library and everyone can somehow benefit from the library,” says Campbell. “The Books in Bloom event is a great way for the nee Pouca Friends of the Library organization to raise funds and help keep the library up-to-date with equipment, books and supplies.” All proceeds from the Books In Bloom event are used to purchase books, reading materials and equipment. In addition, the funding helps sponsor the summer reading program and monies are also set aside in an endowment account for a new library facility. “The community is encouraged to attend the Books in Bloom event and show their support for the library,” says Campbell who— can be reached at 654-7526. Vest =e ae OBITUARY died MISSIONARY tL ULL Ul LALIT SS Monte C. Hansen June 25, 1925 in Midway, the youngest of 11 children, to Conrad and Elise Durtschi Gertsch. He was raised on a farm. Later, enlisted in the US Army in September 1950 and went to basic training at Camp Fort Riley, Kansas. He served overseas duty in Germany. He was a lifetime cattle rancher a farmer. In his younger years he also worked as a pile driver. For many years he lived with his father and took care of him in his later years. Leo enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor. He had a magnetic personality and recognized the best in people. He is survived by his sister Lena Morton, Rexburg, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 1 PM in the. Midway Stake Center, 165 E. Center.
