Show 44 the elks have ever been ready to assist country secretary P bowen of tintic gintic lodge no B P 0 elks has just received an interesting letter from the grand exalted ruler of 0 the older this communication having jo do with matters which will be con coi at the next grand lodge acs slon in boston in july heretofore tl e annual sessions of that grand lodgy have been principally for the purpose of cementing the various lodges together thus strengthening the national character of the order but this year the grand lodge meeting will be more of a pat demonstration the grand ex alted acted ruler states that there is a high er task to be performed by the mem bers of the great american order the social and fraternal features of the past meetings should be lessen ed and the practical and patriotic features brought to the front should we devote our energies to encouragement of enlistment should we bend our efforts to pre vent a lack of food supply what is the problem which we are best fitted to help solve it s tor for th the e grand lodge to determine all good elks should sit at its council board the scene tor for this great epoch in is set in the splendid city of boston at the toot foot of bunker hill within sight of lexington and concord and near the classic shades of hansard harvard here lies lits the very cradle of ameri can liberties and american letters rich with the traditions of our coun try a past no better place could be found for the great american order to assemble and drink in the renew ed inspiration given by the scenes that surround this historic town we will return to our homes with strong er devotion to our cause and higher es to do our full duty by the nation |
