Show Volume XXX Issue IV The Ogden Valley News Page 5 December 1, 2022 Work By Liberty Artist Now Available at Deseret Book By Shanna Francis Jami Willson of Liberty just signed a contract with Deseret Book for the sale of her artwork of Joseph and Mary, which she has titled “The Journey.” Prints of the piece, measuring 22x16, are currently available for purchase, along with boxes of Christmas cards that feature the same painting. Jami Willson grew up in Ogden Valley surrounded by the beautiful mountains, wildlife, and other breathtaking scenery that has been the hallmark of this mountain community. She states that this beauty has always been an inspiration for her and for her art. She has a keen eye for color, people, and scenery that come to life in her work. While she has dabbled in several mediums, she has found oil painting to be her favorite. Jami says this particular piece, “The Journey,” is special to her. She notes that as a little girl, she wondered about Mary and what kind of person she was. She reflects, “She must have been very special. I often wonder if I knew her. In this piece, I wanted to make sure that Joseph was important, and it shows how much he cares for her.” Jami adds, “I wanted a piece of art in my home that I could keep out all year long. Mary and Joseph were on a journey, clear to the end. They truly had faith and hope, and a huge trust in what they were doing and where they were going. These two souls are truly two of my greatest heroes.” Jami and her husband Brad still live in Ogden Valley. They have been married for 43 years and have 4 children and 14 “adorable” grandchildren. Jami says she continues to be inspired by her faith and the beautiful world and people around her. Eden Swimmer Brings Home the Medals Shown left he’d competed. So, to prepare for the 2022 games, is Steve Oliver of Eden with his medals from the recent 2022 Huntsman World Senior Games. His wife Julie commented, “Winning this number of medals was no small feat, considering that in 2016, he had a sextuple heart bypass. But he has come back stronger than ever.” In college, Steve was a swimmer and water polo player. However, it’s been 52 years since he trained for six months at Ogden High School’s pool before competing in his first Huntsman World Senior Games. He medaled in five events. Julie added, “He also made lots of new friends in the Masters Swim program, which is a national competition for aging swimmers.” Steve Oliver noted, “The Games are really fun and have everything from archery to track and field, basketball, square-dancing, tennis, skeet shooting, and more.” You can visit the Huntsman World Senior Games’ website to learn more, including competition offerings. Anyone over the age of 50 can compete. Steve’s wife Julie stated, “I’m proud of Steve, and want other seniors to know how much fun the Games are. There’s a really great spirit of camaraderie that exists among the competitors.” Valley Elementary is Hosts Holiday Giving Tree Valley Elementary is collecting toys and warm clothing for infants, children, and teens.
