We have HOF German moved locations to the Ogden Eccles Conference Center! Festival Slated for January 21 & 22 Coming from the People to People program created by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1953, the annual HOF Germanfest aims to bring people together and celebrate the connection between the sister cities of Ogden, Utah and Hof, Germany. Today this is the oldest and most successful sister city partnership in the program. In 1986, the Ogden sister city committee created a new winter festival that would be known as the Hof Winter Carnival (later, as the HOF Germanfest) to honor the sister city partnership. HOF Germanfest is considered Utah’s Premier Winter Family Fun Event and continues to be the most outstanding family German-themed festival in Utah. This great tradition lives on and continues to be a wonderful winter event in Weber County. For his year’s festival, we have moved locations to the Ogden Eccles Conference Center at 2415 Washington Blvd in Ogden with all the same fun, food, and music. Free parking will be available in the parking garage behind the conference center on Kiesel Ave. We look forward to having this event and continuing the celebration of the sister city relationship between Hof and Ogden. Outstanding German bands from the western United States will perform on a professional stage along with folk dancers who will perform German-styled dances. The festival also features authentic German foods such as wiener schnitzel, bratwurst, and knockwurst. Great authentic craft booths by local and out-of-state vendors decorate the festival and offer their wares. People of all ages can dance to polkas, waltzes, and the “chicken dance” late into the night. Plan to attend this fun family event on one or both days.
