Show new W wagon agon road to tintic gintic district utah county has appropriated money for the construction of a ro road ad through pinion canyon will start work at once according to figued submitted by the road commissioner of utah coun ty the new wagon road through pinion canyon to the mining district can be constructed at a cost of about 3 the figures of the road commissioner have been approve ed by the board of county commis for utah county and a corn com cittee has been appointed to confer w with ith the state road commission rela live tive to the state s portion of the work it Is understood too I 1 that the state road commission has approved the new route and the work will be taken up at once a survey of the new road hav hay ing been made during the early part of the present week this paper Is highly pleased with the action of the county commission erg ers of utah county it has taken a lot of hard work to bring them to a I 1 realization of the duty which they owe the great cintio tintic mining district but it if they push this work along in the proper manner the people of thia this section will overlook past differences and give them all the encouragement and support that Is needed the new road through pinion can yon lali will be e a great thing for the tin t tic district C t and for the western end of utah county the present road I 1 over the jamison hill 11 is one of the worst in the entire state and especial ly in the winter and spring months when it Is impassable for automobiles or heavily loaded wagons in the them summer it Is fairly good except fol lowing a heavy rain but the grade Is too steep it Is a useless expends ture of energy to have to climb up over such a steep hill every time that a trip Is made either to or from the district and especially when 3 Is sufficient to make a road which will avoid this hilt hill during the past ten days the he re porter haa hag been checking up for the purpose of getting a line on the amount of tax money that goes into the trea usry of utah county from the tintic gintic district net proceeds from the mines the tax paid by the rail road the telephone and telegraph companies and the power company it was our intention to present these figures to the board of county corn com missioners miss loners of utah county in further ikusa urging ng the construction of a good betl we tl wagon road into this district but in view of the action that the board has lust just taken this will probably not be necessary suffice to say that that county Is getting an immense revenue from tintic gintic there Is 1 lust just one suggestion we would like to make to the commissioners of utah county and that la is that they give this road work the pro per supervision that as far as pos sible they eliminate petty graft and get value received for the money which they spend they did not get value received on the santaquin San road last year and they did not get it on the Ho mansvIlle lob job last tall fall 3 will go a long way toward giving the district a decent wagon road provided that utah county gets about 3 worth of work done but fig aring on a basis of about 16 15 cents worth of work for each dollar ex it will not amount to much another thing which utah county s road b should understand Is 1 that an ordinary dirt road poad without a coating of gravel Is of little value during tho the very part of the year that good roads roada are moat most needed and most appreciated |
