Show burglar was quickly taken into at an early hour on morning the bar was bur some liquor and about 45 in silver being stolen mr who sleeps in the place was from the saloon between the hour and about two 0 clock in the morning and a few seconds after he returned he heard the noise of break ing glass and started out to invest gate he immediately went to the front part of the saloon and dincov ered that tha he had been robbed of change in the till and a few bottle of whiskey were also missing he notified the officers and a later search of the place showed that the burglar had entered through the rear window he was no doubt in the saloon when mr returned and the noise which the proprietor heard was caused when the man made his get away with so much speed that he broke out another piece of glass blood which was in evidence in the rear of the place showed that the burglar had cut his hand quite severely in entering or leaving the saloon wl WI en the officers first started out looking for the offender they found evidence which seemed to indicate that he had made his way to junction and taken one of the through freight trains north sheriff angus mcdonnell consequently took the first train for salt lake and mar henriod and night policemen ingersoll ng ersoll and savage made a search of cabins and rooming houses at the keystone hotel they found john do boid d with a badly cut hand and under the matress of his bed was the money and liquor boyd at first de nied any connection with the burg lary ary but later confessed and stated hat that he watched his opportunity and roke broke into the place while mr shor tino was absent that the saloon man returned before he had finished his work and that it was necessary tor for him ilm to make a hasty exit I 1 when boyd appeared before judge I 1 bromley on monday afternoon being beings charged with burglary in the second degree he stated that he was anxious to plead guilty he ile waived his right to a preliminary hearing and wasi was held to the district court his bond being eing fixed at he was unab unable to furnish the bond and sheriff MO me donnell took him to nephi where he will remain in jail until the case Is called tor for trial the 0 0 officers cers here are of the ion on that boyd broke into the smith bar in january of this year al at though at that time there was not sufficient evidence to connect him with the crime the man served two or three short terms tor for drunken ness in the city jail |
