irregularities brought to light in that contest Utah may have an honest election this fall" Watkins said "Certainly the contest aroused the public to a degree of vigilance which was lacking in 1946" Watkins urged the election of David J Wilson of Ogden as representative of Utah's first congressional district "We in Utah will need the services of David J Wilson and of William A Dawson Second voiced by his senior colleague Democratic Sen Elbert D Thomas "The accumulation of essential legislation which confronted the 80th congress showed only the lack of real accomplishment of the Democratic congresses of the preceding 14 years" Watkins said "And" the vast world recovery and rearmament funds appropriated by the 80th congress were made necessarv in large part by the bungling of two Democratic presidents "And you hear a lor about price control Don't forget that price control was removed and rationing ended in 1946 — before the 80th congress even took office Democrats were in control in the White House and in congress when controls were lifted but now they're even that on the trying to blame 80th congress " On Reclamation Watkins spoke t length on the reclamation needs of Utah describing plans for the Weber basin and central Utah projects which he pointed out "will use and conserve our last remaining sources of water" The Weber basin project to cost $60000000 may be reported to the next congress he said This project he said would permit "immeasurable" expansion in Davis Weber and Box Elder counties (R-Uta- THE OGDEN UTAH STANDARD-EXAMINESATURDAY EVENING OCTOBER
