Show teachers institute was well attended the institute for the parents and teachers of tintic gintic district held at cureka last friday and saturday proved to be both profitable and en pertaining the day scissions at the high school building on friday and saturday were here attended by all of the teachers of district and by a number of patrons dr E 0 G gowans state superintendent of f public la in st ruction gave several interesting ad dresses on problems pertaining to school organization and the broader phases of teaching work mr air allds supervisor of grammer grades and miss supervisor ot of mary grades in the salt lake I 1 city schools instructed the teachers inthe in the most up to date methods of teaching arithmetic language and mr robinson of the local schools gave in st ruction in methods of teaching mu sic and miss bliss stoddard discussed the relation of the english course to the other high school courses on friday evening a special meet ing tug for parents and teachers wae was held at the L D S church about five hundred patrons of the school were present and listened attentively to the addresses of miss through and dr gowans both of whom urged closer cooperation between parents and teachers and pointed out specia ic c ways ays in which the home and the school might cooperate with each other music was furnished by the ladies and the male chorus after the evening program a get acquainted meeting vaa aas held and the crowd indulged in an old fashioned hand shaking bee parents and teachers made good use of the olo opportunity port unity to get better acquainted with each other and many old time acquaintances between citizens of the city were renewed after partaking of light refreshments provided by the teachers and served by the domestic science class of the high school the entertainment was brought to a close and everyone ever one departed feeling that the evening had been well spent |
