Reports Nineteen-year-ol- d Sheldon J Barney convicted slayer of Dee N Lane 50 may be compelled to face another serious charge but it was indicated Saturday that two other charges pending against him may be dropped d The youth who is in Weber sentencing awaiting county jail jell for voluntary manslaughter may possibly be charged with arson an offense which carries a sentence of two to twenty years Max Lamph assistant county at torney said he had been conferring with Ogden fire department officials and District Attorney Glenn W Adams who prosecuted the first degree murder case against the A decision on the arson charge probably will be made this week Lamph stated Other charges pending against Barney are desertion from the navy during wartime and unlawful flight The latter count enabled the FBI to enter the case Authoritative sources said the latter charge would be dismissed since it was brought to enable federal officials to join the manhunt It was be lieved also that the navy would drop the desertion count although this was not certain The arson case would presum ably be built around Barney's admitted firing of the gasoline-soake- d corpse of Lane and the subsequent destruction of the cabin in which he had been slain Barney will be sentenced by District Judge John A Hendricks Tuesday at ten a m black-haire- ex-sail- mmmmm mm II?
