Peterson today reiterated his stand relative to two burglary suspects whom he and Assistant County Attorney Max M Lamph refused to prosecute because they said the evidence was insufficient The men had been arrested by Ogden city police officers three hours after the entering of a furniture store on Washington boulePicked up several blocks vard from the scene of the crime away the pair allegedly signed a confession but police released them with a statement that the county attorney "had refused to prosecute" The matter was brought before Weber county commissioners today in a letter from the retail merchants division of the chamber of commerce signed by Assistant Manager L H Griffin According to the communication it was dispatched "to the end that justice can be served and the citizens and merchants of Ogden protected" The letter was referred to Peterson who said there was not a shred of evidence to substantiate the charge except the confession which he indicated could have been obtained by duress He pointed out the two men were arrested some time after the crime several blocks away from the scene and that they obviously were not up UNpar mentally "We did not refuse to prosecute" he continued "we merely insisted that the police provide us with evidence that would hold up in court such as fingerprints" Peterson explained that "an uncorroborated confession Is very flimsy evidence" "The defendants Line Stake Causes Ltrigation A simple iron stake set among some shrubbery 'to mark a lot line pierced the brain of an eight-year-old who fell upon it and by caused his for the cattle to contact the disease For this reason the vaccination should be accomplished before turning the cattle into pasture Cases have been known where the disease was caused by bacteria that had lived in the soil as long as 11 years the agent reported "Symptoms of the disease are high fever formation under the skin of gaseous swellings or tumors that emit a crackling sound on pressure These swellings occur especially on the hind quarter or shoulder and usually cause lameness and stiffness" Christiansen said a "The disease is nearly always fatal within 12 to 36'houvs There is no
