tuesday afternoon and which was breathed forth in the remarks that were made at tha opening of 0 the convention tho the democrats of box elder county met in tile the opera house in this city wednesday morning at eleven just thirty minutes after the announced time af the convention to place in no minati ga a county ticket the convention was called to order by county chairman 0 C dalby who gave the delegates brief glimpses ot of some of the things mr bryan proclaimed and urged all democrats tb 5 not get away from the fact that this is a democratic year lie he then announced that mr air john E V baird and an mr air john W phillips Phil lins had been selected as temporary chairman and temporary secretary respectively of the convention upon assuming the chair mr air baird made a speech in which he re counted some of the things the democratic administration lias has accomplished Plis lied and good natu criticized tile the republicans for what lie termed their unwillingness to recognize them he too declared that tile the signs of the times point to a democratic victory in ill the nation and state and added that list even in box elder county the democrats are going to win after some remarks by newton arr state organizer of 01 wilson clubs club the call was read by the secretary wid and the convention proceeded to authorize t the lie chairman to appoint the usual three one on credentials denti als one on permanent organization and order of business one on oil platform and resolutions the chair deliberated a few moments and announced leed tho the following appointments business was the report of the various committees the resolution on permanent organization and order of business named mr james al M white of 0 willard for chairman with J W phillips as secretary and the order of nominations to be the same as in the call upon assuming the chair mr white made a short speech of appreciation of the lionor honor conferred upon him and then the platform was read A before the convention as a candidate the mention of mr air eddys name was received with cheers and someone immediately made a motion that the rules be suspended and ho be be benamou ben amod named by acclamation which was done with a whoop and the gentleman was caled upon for a speech ile ho expressed for tile the great honor hom and then went on oil in fix a serious vein and urged the delegates to get the spirit of the campaign and work and the party would be returned a victor mr air eddy did not minimize the task before the party but declared der lared that under the existing conditions the democrats have tile the chance of their lives the four our year term enship came next and attorney 11 II C wilson of garland secured the floor door and ad proceeded to place in nomination mr air A n R capener of garland mr air christian cl ristian olsen of this city was nominated by mr E W dunn and then the balloting proceeded mr capener received and mr olsen 33 after which them the nomination of mr air capener was made unanimous for the two year term brigham wright of this city was named by T 11 blackburn R A johnson Johi ison of heaver deaver dam was named by G G sweeten and C olsen oisen was named by lars hansen mr wright won on the first ballot and nd nomination made unanimous attorney 0 C dalby was for county attorney by acclamation after a motion had carried to suspend the rules the fight for the nomination as county clerk was most spirited milton J thorn of perry was named by E al M tyson S jesse jessa workman of this city was named by J IV larsen and geo NV watkins was named by E U V P horsley II there was no election on oil the first ballot and before the see sc ond proceeded the name of mr workman was withdrawn and thorn won for treasurer mr ar E 11 cornwall Co inwall of tremonton Tre monton was named by dr J R A whitlock and john J ward of willard was named by mr air mckay mr air ward won by a large for assessor willard 11 anderson andersen of bf bear river was named by moroni B E it if cornwall was named by a delegate from Tre mouton P C johnson of mantua was named by I 1 W E davis bavis and it required two ballots to decide the contest mr anderson won
