Show j LADY missionary WRITES interesting LETTER 1746 chester st baltimore Balt more mr air I 1 sept 8 1916 i dear editor I 1 just a few lines of appreciation for 1 i your kindness in sending me the box elder news I 1 never really appreciated the paper at home but sines since being so far away I 1 look forward to its coming almo almost s t I 1 laa bayli I 1 as aiLa a Jetter from f gm home it I 1 Is s I fk r rr 1 as agleam yia ema ev t I 1 I 1 can hardly realize iise neiler nearly fifteen months since I left my dear old home in the mountains time Is I 1 passing so rapidly A tow few more months I 1 and I 1 will be speeding back to the land of the purple sage I 1 have enjoyed every hour of that time and a am looking forward to tile the day when every one of our boys and girls will have the privilege of spending at least a year in the misson field the peace and happiness happ ness that comes to one when trying to carry the glorious message of the gospel to his fellow men cannot be gained in any other way money could not buy tile the experience I 1 have had since leaving home there were about fourteen missionaries in our company when we left salt lake acty all called to the eastern states our trip out here was delightful we stopped at chicago niagara i falls and several other places of interest when we reached new york I 1 was assigned to labor in pittsburg was there a few weeks when we went to vermont the birthplace of our prophet to celebrate the of july about one hundred sixty people were wera there mostly missionaries we certainly had a glorious reunion altho pittsburg is a smoky city and we were opposed by many people especially ally those of the national reform association we made several very dear friends at our conference in may I 1 was transferred to the maryland conference headquarters in baltimore where I 1 have been since and will probably remain here until I 1 am released I 1 spent last week in washington in search of genealogical records and also assisted in holding several meetings held one open air meeting in a large grove several miles out from washington and had a very good meeting and had to walk five miles to a car line after meeting so we girls felt that wo we were getting some experience in country work in the mission field thanking your tor for the news and praying our rathers fathers choicest blessings upon you sincerely your sister I 1 ELLA GIBBS |
