Ford's challenge to ' the imports is the first from an American automaker, but it won't be the only one. Genc ,11 Motors plans to introduce its X13887 "subcompact" around the middle of next year and there are reports in Detroit that American Motors will have a subcompact tentatively named the Hornet by this fall.
