Exhibits will include 72 Hour Kit; one year food supply; food first aid and water preparation; purification; fuel and communica- - tions; clothing and bedding; and spiritual. The exhibits will begin at 6 Dinner and program will p.m. commence at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend this Family Preparedness Affair. Meeting for women set Sept. 24, Temple Square with honors Rick E. McClure recently graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, in San Francisco, with honors. Dr. McClure is currently serving as a surgical resident at Doctors Hospital in Santa Anna. He and his wife, Lezlie (Flora) and their year old son, David Joseph, reside in Corona, CA. TWO SEPARATE PROGRAMS Food distribution includes commodities & 'Share the Former Salma man is Harvest' fresh produce named Manager of firm There will be a Federal Food Commodities distribution at Valley Community Church, 34 East 200 South, Richfield, for those Sevier County residents 59 years or younger, on Thursday, September 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. Commodities to be distributed are cheese, butter, rice and a choice of one of the following: flour, com meal, honey and powdered milk. There will be only one allotment of food commodities per household, regardless of how many individuals or families are at that same address. Persons unable to pick up their commodities may send a note with another person. The note must contain the following: name, address, city, family size, and a request for their commodities to be picked up and their signature. Officials will accept only one note au thorizing the pickup of commodities by another person. Gross income guidelines will be posted at the site. Along with the food com- modities, Valley Church will be the distribution site for fresh produce from local gardens. In this Share the Harvest program, we are working in cooperation with the Central Utah Food Sharing and Utahns Against Hunger; and the program is in no way c connected to the Federal Food Program. 326-459- Neil S. Prior to that he was a general contractor with Dixon Construction Company in Hyde Park. Dixon studied industrial education at Brigham Young University, Provo. DEAR ABBY" KEYNOTE SPEAKER Parenting conference set for Sept. 7 1 A Parenting Conference will be held September 17, at Cottonwood High School, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is the brainchild of Utahs First Lady, Colleen Bangcrter. Mrs. Bangerter wanted to establish a conference to help Utahs families improve their parenting and communication skills, and help pre-- , vent some of the problems tat can destroy families, like child abuse and neglect, as well as substance abuse. Abigail Van Buren, better known as Dear Abby will be keynote speaker. The conference will include a number of workshops, lectures and the chance for sharing of information. Workshop leaders include doctors, educators, social workers, therapists, authors and experts from around the country. The conference has limited space, and it is necessary to preregister. Fee for the conference is $10 for the first family members and $5 for each additional member, with a maximum of $20. The fee also covers the cost of lunch. WIC enables low income families to provide their young children with nutritious food which they would otherwise be unable to afford. Statewide, WIC has increased participation to include 4 1 ,000 women, children and infants. Currently, Utah has funding to allow WIC to expand to a monthly caseload of 46,000 participants. A primary concern of the program is to deliver preventative health care. Participants receive nutrition education in group settings and on a one on one counseling basis.
