Aua. 24. 1983 - Redmond News Tammy Johnson Patty Christensens mother, Virginia Eastman and her friend Marian from Grand Junction, Colorado spent 2 days visiting with the Christensens. Mary and Whitney Christensen traveled to Fredonia, Arizona last Saturday to attend the golden wedding of Allen and Cleona Judd. The Judds are the parents of Mary and Whitneys daughter in law Nayna. Enroute down they visited Bryce canyon, they spent Saturday night at Zions Canyon returning home Sunday afternoon. Doris Christensen along with many other teachers and assistants from the State of Utah spent an exciting week in Salt Lake City attending Distar Workshops. This is the third year Doris has attended these interesting workshops. The Redmond Needle Stich-er- s under the direction of their leader, Lori Rawlison entered their elastic waste skirt in the Sevier County Fair last week, winning were Kristy Neilsen, White, Jerilyn Nelson, Red; Lacie Rawlinsom, Blue; Amy Jensen, Red; Susan Williams, Red; Kimberely Hampton, Blue; Natalie Brinkerhoff, Blue; and Lindsay St. Piere, Blue. Lindsay also took second place in the Style Dress review. Special visitors at the home of Philo and Velma Rasmussen were Dav id and Mary B everidge and three sons from Edinbuargh, Scotland. They are in the United States for a three week Holiday. They had visited friends in Kaysville, Utah and in Idaho at the home of a Missionary who had converted Mary, seven years ago. They had visited Ronald Rasmussen and family in West Valley City. Ronald was a missionary that converted this family in Dalk-ietMidlothian, Scotland in 1963. David is a son of John and Margaret Beveridge who were here visiting the Rasmussen family two years ago. They arrived at the Rasmussen home late Wednesday, August 17. Thursday was spent touring the area to the h, r Mayfield News Jean Peterson 529-755- 2 farm to ride the horse, watch the farm equipment work operated by Kardell. Then they toured the area of Redmond and Salina. Family members came to visit and get acquainted with the lovely couple. They left Friday morning to continue their tour. Young boys living in the city of Edinburgh, truly enjoyed farm life. Boys ages six, four and two are interested in country life. Sandra and Ivan Banks and family were here visiting with the Milo Bosshardts recently. Earl Porter, a recent convert to the L.D.S. church was presented to receive the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood Sunday. Gary Jensen was released Sunday as the Ward Clerk. Sustained as the Ward Clerk was Dave Peterson. Tuesday and Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Ashman were in Cedar City to attend the Shakespearean Festival. Joining them were their daughter Kay, grandsons Cory and Tom, a sister Dawn Hafen, and nephews Kraig and Merlin Hafen. Friday and Saturday, Mark and Charmaine Lewis, Burke and Jolene Willardson, Maylon and Nikki Mickelsen, Pat and Kardell Rasmussen, and Tammy and Gordon Johnson were in Fillmore to attend the Region Riding Club Competition. Mark, Burke, Jolene, Gordon and Maylon took fifth in the water race and Gordon and Maylon took fifth on the Ribbon pull. This now enables them to go to the State Riding Club meet to be held in Price on September 9 and 10. The group had a good time and hope to continue the riding club in Redmond. This is the first year in many, that a riding club has been organized in Redmond. Jennifer and Bartly Johnson were in Loa over the weekend to attend the Wayne County Fair and to visit with their grandfather, Lester Oyler and other relatives. Jennifer open Horse participated in the show and competed in the barrels in the rodeo, Saturday evening. 4-- H sea level. They stayed with daughter Bcmell Boggan who lives in S An Francisco. They visited Union Gate Park, FisherGolden Square, mans Wharf, and the big red trees. Roy and Hazel visited quaint Danville, Oakland Berkley, Pleasanton, and Walnut Creek. Last Sunday Bemell invited Val Jean Hansen and wife Carolina to dinner and visit with Roy and Hazel. Val Jean is a former Mayfield resident and is the son of Wesley and Myrle Hansen. The Potters enjoyed their stay. The weather was so nice and Hazels health was good. Roy gained 5 pounds on this 10 day stay. Sunday at 10:50 a.m in the Mayfield Ward a Sacrament Meeting will be presented by Douglas Whitlock and his family prior to his mission to Texas. Saturday, August 20, the family of Nels and Gladys Sorenson held their annual reunion in the Mayfield Park. There were 50 family members in attendance; Glenna and Glade Peterson and family from Murray, Joyce and Robert Graham and family from Salt Lake, Thelma Mcllor and family from Fayette, Neil and Mary Louise Sorenson and Steve and Denise Piero have purchascdahomeinEphraim. They moved theirfamily on Saturday. We hate to see them go, but we know that Steve will be closer to his job at the mine. We wish them the best and hope they will come back to visit. Nathan Harward of Livermore, CA. has been visiting hi s Bessie Alexander. grandmother Steven and Ilene Sandholtz of Livermore, CA. have also visited Bessie. They are students at BYU. Joan Peterson and children Patrick and Jamie of Ogden have been visiting their mother and grandmother Bessie Alexander. Kristi Henrickson, daughter of Lynn and Gilberta Hendrickson and Benjamin Chase were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Wednesday, August 17. Kristi isthegranddaugh-- . ter of Ruby Fjeldsted and Rendcll and Vione Hendrickson of Gunnison. The grandparents were in Salt Lake for this wedding and reception. Phyllis McArthur entertained shower for Loretta Mcllor bridal at a on Thursday. Friends of Loretta, family members and Garde Club members had an enjoyable time with Loretta. She received lovely gifts and then a delicious buffet luncheon was served. Lee and Marjorie Reay have had an enjoyable weekend. Their grandchildren Shantecla, Steven and Cody Trevort and Shane Bronson have visited them. Their parents came Monday to take the children back to Salt Lake City. Daniel and Ruth Good of Mayfield and Alva and Virgie Sorenson from Salina, enjoyed a weeks vacation traveling through Montana, Idaho, and part of Wyoming. In Eureka, Montana they visited with Ruth and Virgils brother DcLoy Whitlock and family, they were house guests one night at the Kathy Jensen home in Poison Montana. Time was spent seeing points of interest along the way, visiting family members in Logan, Sunset, and Salt Lake City. Horace and Afton Sorenson of Salt Lake were weekend guests in Mayfield. They stayed with their children Steve and JoAnn Ottcn and Harvey and Patty Sorenson. They also attended the Alma Sorenson Family Reunion held in the Gunnison City Park on Saturday. Syd and Joan Vaughn served them a beautiful dinner, they asked their dear friends in Amcricaand said they would like to return some day for a visit. While in England the Harris visited an old Roman City, Chester, inside a stonewall and spent sometime on the heather covered Moors with old friends from Australia.
