The Gunnison Valley News The Salina Sun The Gunnison Valley News April 20. 1988 7th Annual Commissioners Art Show, April 26,29 Art work for the 7th Annual Commissioners Art Show will be accepted Monday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the downstairs auditorium in the Sevier County Courthouse. Chairman Maureen Karst said art work from school children will be picked up at the schools on Friday, April 22, and the show will open for the public at Noon, Tuesday, April 26. Viewing hours are Noon to 8 p.m. through Friday, April 29. Applications for adult entries be picked up at Heaths Office may Supply, Salina, as well as Knit Richfield; Durfees, Monroe. All Sevier County residents of any age arc invited to submit their original work to be shown in student, amateur, and professional divisions. Oil and acrylic, watercolor and graphics, including gouache, pastel, charcoal, pencil sketch, silkscreen, etc., are being accepted. Space may not permit all works entered to be shown, according to the contest rules. No changes or with drawals will be permitted after the show begins, and although works cannot be insured, reasonable precautions arc taken to prevent damage, theft and loss. All entries must be framed or matted and prepared for hanging. Winning entries will be assembled into a special display, Mrs. Karst noted. At the end of the show, student work will be returned to the schools and may be claimed there. Adults may claim their work after 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29, or before noon on Saturday, April 30. Assisting Mrs. Karst on the art show committee this year is Janette Hales, ofRedmond. Social and Service clubs throughout the valley will provide volunteer hosts and hostesses. Mrs. Karst said last years guestbook indicated that about 1 ,000 visitors came through to see the artistic works of their friends and neighbors.
