She was the 1993-9- 4 South Sevier homecoming queen She has been a cheerleader for four years at South Sevier High School She has played the piano for 13 years and plays piano and organ for church Della King Della King To Be Honored On 85th Date The family of Della King will to honor her for her 85lh birthday at an open house on Saturday March 5 from 2 to 4 pm at the Payson Sixth LDS Ward 1080 South 930 West Payson She was bom March 6 1909 in Escalante She attended school and spent most of her youth in the Wayne County area She was married to Mclford King and they arc the parents of nine children Her husband and three sons have passed away In lieu of a gift friends and relatives arc invited to write a special shared experience or tribute to her for a remembrance memory Au‘rage period covers Shauna Woolsey CENTRAL — Shauna Woolsey placed first in the drill down portion of the 2A Region 13 drill team competition at South Sevier High School Competing against approximately 100 other dancers Woolsey won this individual event She was among the 20 final dancers at the state 2A level before being eliminated Woolsey has been a South Se- vier Sensations member for two years and is a sophomore at South Sevier High School Kyle R Torgerson KyleR Torgerson LYMAN — Kyle Torgerson Lyman son of Sherrill and Sheila Torgerson received his Eagle Scout award He is 14 years old and attends Wayne High School Torgerson has always been active in scouting and earned the Arrow of Light award w hile in Cub Scouts He has also earned the Faith In God and the On My Honor awards which arc religious awards presented by the LDS Church He served as patrol leader and assistant patrol leader while a Boy of the Varsity Scout and Scouts Totgcrson’s Eagle Scout service project consisted of building a pump house for the sprinkler system at the Loa Utah LDS Stake Park in Lyman A total of 147 hours were spent on this project He supervised two adults and six scouts Torgerson enjoys camping horseback riding hunting shotgun shooting and motorcycling Jennifer Ilicks Hicks Named RHS Does Well nice Chappell At Region Manager Of First Security Denice Chappell Speech Meet Jennifer Do H Hicks has been pro- moted to manager of the Richfield Office of First Security Bank She has served as assistant manager of the office since 1991 Mrs Hicks joined the Richfield office of First Security in 1981 as a teller As a financial service representative from 1982 to 1983 she earned certification as a certified sales professional She served as a commercial loan secretary from 1984 to 1986 when she was assigned as an account representative She was named manager of First Security's office in Monroe in 1989 Bom in Delta Mrs Hicks graduated from Richfield High School She attended Dixie College and has completed various professional courses given by the American Institute of Banking Mrs Hicks and her husband John reside in Central with their three children She is a member of the Richfield Lions fifth graders at Loa Elementary School Chappell is a fourth grade student in Susan Chappell's class She competed with II finalists in the fourth and fifth grades She has taken the state test and is wailing to hear the results She is one of seven children She and church is very involved in activities and is taking violin and piano lessons 4-- Carbon High School hosted region speech competition Richfield High School will be sending five qualifiers to the state meet also to be held in Price at College at Eastern Utah March 19 The highest-placin- g qualifier was Nick Street who received a third place medal for his efforts in student congress (His score actually placed him in second but there was a tic for first) Dallin Young placed one point back from Street earning him fourth place honors (actually third according to score) Richfield will also be sending two strong speakers in impromptu Chris Christensen earned fourth place and would have received a medal for third were it not for a uc for second place Brad Skinner also performed well qualifying him for state competition A newcomer at extemporaneous speaking Marcus Blackburn qualified to represent Richfield in that event at state Margaret Miller Butikofer Venice Native Wins Honors As Teacher In Idaho School VENICE — Venice native Margaret Ann Miller Butikofer Sugar City Ida was honored by the Rcxburg Ida as Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year Butikofer daughter of Mr and Mrs LaRuc Miller Venice is a mathematics teacher at Sugar-SaleHigh School According to the chamber she is at the school before and after classes to work with students w ho need extra help to learn mathematical concepts Without a solid foundation of knowledge mathematics can be difficult to learn Butikofer said Tvc always planned on
