JUNCTION — Elar Jenkins and Jennifer Torgersen both seniors at Piute High School were named Homecoming King and Queen in homecoming activities that were held at the end of January They were choaen because of their spirit shown throughout the week Dear Vi: I'm a bachelor who likes freshly-brewe- d coffee but who has time for that in the morning? And what do you do with what's left over? I'm proud of my solution: Brew up a pot of coffee four or five times stronger than usual When it’s cool pour it into ice cube trays and freeze it When you want a cup of coffee put a couple of cubes in your cup add hot water If more heat is needed use the microwave Isn't that sneaky? Bewildered Bride The main advantage of an electric beater for making bread is that thorough beating develops the gluten in the flour which results in a lighter and better texture of the finished product Try beating in only about half the flour until the gluten develops (You can tell by the clastic appearance of the batter) Now you can knead in the additional flour by hand which is fairly easy to do Plastic forks inserted tines up in the soil make dandy supports for house plants Hold the branches in place with twist tics saved from bread wrappers or garbage bags Do you water your plants with dishwater? If not try it The food left in the water after rinsing or washing dishes provides good fertilizer No neither the detergent or the chlorine bleach if you use it to dis- infect your dishes harms the plants On the contrary they thrive on it Drawers that don't slide easily are frustrating Apply a coat of paste floor wax on the tracks and bottom edges of the drawers and they w ill slide easily Thought For The Day: What a wonderful thing it would be if every person realized that his every acuon has eternal consequences Gordon B Hinckley Readers if you have good ideas to share send them to It Makes Cents 328 South 300 East 5 St George Utah 84770 If used here 111 send you S2 or one of my helpful booklets C s' w d SALINA — Miss Tracy Cole will become the bride of Randy Bullard in rites to be performed Feb 12 at 2 pm in the Old Church Reception Center V removed soak them in hot water for an hour or two drain and freeze overnight The next day you’ll be able to get out large pieces when you crack them The best way is to stand the nut on end and hit the stem end with a hammer Derrick Folsom Hurricane Rich- field afterThey w ill be honored that noon at a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Aurora First LDS Ward Everyone is invited to attend Miss Cole is a daughter of John Cole California and Pam Danielson Salina Mr Bullard is a son of Mr and Mrs Devon Bullard Aurora The couple will reside in Salina PARSONS "BAKERY Valentine Cookies 60 W Sugar Cookie P 100 N Dough Richfield Roses Are Red Violets Are Blue Let Us Make Valentines Special For You! And how to you create a running fountain that allow s the peaceful sound of running water w ithout the sound becoming too loud and interfering with the lines of the actors? That is part of what scenic designer Tom Umfrid and sound designer James Capenos are back home dealing with coming up with answers before the next round of meetings in March Or how do you recreate the New Orleans of the late 1940s complete with a small apartment for "A Streetcar Named Desire?" Or how do you deal with throwing a very handsome but drunk Stanley into the shower without turning the play show? Again the into a wet designers arc working on those challenges Umfrid already has a mock-u- p of the stage with the New Orleans apartment and costume designer Janet Swenson is looking for the right materials for Stanley's clothing materials that are realistic and evocative but not too revealing The designers have their secrets and their own special brand of magic and they arc slowly starting to move these ideas (and hundreds of others) from paper to the reality of the state The meetings involved about 30 festival personnel who have now begun the process of interpreting and producing this year's season: William Shakespeare’s "As You Like It" "Richard III" and "Love’s Labour's Lost" Thomas Dekker's "The Shoemaker’s Holiday" Georges Feydeau's "A Flea in Her Ear" and Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" as well as the popular Greenshow and The Royal Fcastc By May the festival staff will have grown to nearly 300 and the ideas and dreams that were placed on the tables in Los Angeles will start to become reality — a reality that will be shared with over 120000 audience members June 23 through Sept 3 "I could go on and on about the stimulating and enticing concepts presented in Los Angeles" said Adams "but I don’t want to spoil the surprise of our 33rd season — nor prematurely unveil the magic our designers ultimately create" Tickets are now on sale for the 1994 Utah Shakespearean Festival To place orders or receive information about the festival call the Box Office Grand Opening! of A Classic Edge Grand Opening Begins Tuesday February 15—10:00 am - 6:00 pm 680 South Main Richfield 896-484- 8 ' |
