Miss Esther Witbeck will remain in the Gunnison Valley Hospital for sometime yet following a heart attack she suffered a few weeks ago. Reports are she is improving nicely and spends a while in the' wheel chair each day but as yet is unable to receive visitors. She is most grateful for the letters and cards from the many friends who have remembered her. Mrs. Cloe Buchanan and Opal Lyon enjoyed a day in Provo where they attended to business affairs and did some shopping. Mrs. Edith Decker enjoyed the Labor Day weekend with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Decker, Lynda dnd Larry of Salt Lake, who dropped in to see her. They enjoyed a dinner and visiting at the home of another son and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Decker of Ephraim. . Mrs. Opal Lyon and daughter, Mrs. Beverly Squire, spent two days in Salt Lake where they attended the wedding reception Sept. 1 at the Shalamar for a nephew and cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Craig (Debra) Fisher. Craig is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard (Vera) Fisher of Salt Lake. Debra is a Mr. and Mrs. Leonard (Reba) Alder entertained a group of friends and relatives Monday evening. The occasion was Leonards birthday. Again on Tuesday Mrs. Alder had the neighbors in for lunch. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond B. Townsend, also of Salt Lake. Craig returned from an LDS mission to South Italy last fall. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. DOLLAR August was a busy, happy time for the Grant Dyrengs, when all their children, along with members of their families, made a very unexpected family gathering. This was the first time the brothers and sisters had been together for many years. Gaylen, Jeanette, Duane and Kenneth Dyreng drove in from Chula Vista, Calif., on Aug. 23. Word of their arrival was sent to Jean, Charles, Kathleen and Daniel Rasmussen, who were in Rexburg, Idaho, to leave their daughter, Diane, at Ricks College. They cut their vacation at Yellowstone short and came back to Manti. Steven, Betty and little Jaren Dyreng decided to join the family and left Kayenta, Ariz., after school and walked into the kitchen just in time for breakfast. All went to the fair Saturday evening. On Sunday Marilyn, Rulon and Jannie Maxfield joined the family for a big turkey dinner. Steven and family left early for their home in Arizona. Those in attendance were the immediate families from Ephraim and Manti. Special guests were Jay Cox and Mrs. Lenore Denison and a Mrs. Louell Sorengreat-aun- t, son, Manti, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Anderson and family from Price. Mr. and Mrs. Averill Larsen were hosted at an open house in their home by their children: Betty and David Christensen, Emma Lou and Ray Keller and Vera and Dan Spencer, and they wish to thank their many friends who came to wish them well on their 50th wedding anniversary and also for the many lovely cards that they received. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jewkes and family, Pleasant Grove, brought their mother, Mrs. Jennie C. Jewkes, of Midvale to C0NTOACF Manti for a Labor Day visit with Harmon and Orpha Parry. Mrs. Jewkes is Orphas cousin. and Beth, has been helping out at the Call home. Judy lives in Salt Lake. Her two children, Daniel and Robin are with her. She will probably return home this week end. Mrs. Thelma Whitlock has had several members of her family visiting her recently. They included Shannon Mathis from Las Vegas; Ray and Norma Whitlock and family from San Diego; Alta Coleman from Heber; a brother, Glen and Retta Bown and family from Eureka, Calif.; Wesley and Sandra and family from Granger. They came for the marriage of her son Rodneys daughter, Randy and Russell String-hasons of Mr. and Mrs. Reed (Joan) Stringham of San Jose, Calif., visited with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jannice Nielson, over the weekend. Both boys are attending BYU. Mrs. Thelma Whitlock of Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Higham over the weekend.
