Volume 90 MANTI, UTAH 84642, THURSDAY, Number 36 MARCH 11, 1976 Truck Overturns, Spills Gasoline on Highway Thousands of gallons of highly inflammable gasoline poured onto U.S. Highway 89 three miles north of Ephraim Tuesday morning when a tank truck blew a rear wheel, overturned and rolled in the middle of the road. Officers diverted traffic around the scene for 2 Vi hours following the 9:45 a.m. accident before the normal flow of traffic was restored. Rex Staker, Mt. The three are Susan Carol Peterson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bart A. Peterson; Kathryn Voorhees, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs Stanley R. Voorhees, and Debra Lee Snow, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. MoRell Snow. Pageant committee members said that other entrants will be announced later. The pageant, which will have a Bicentennial theme, is scheduled for April 10. Susan is 18, a senior at Manti High School, enjoys working with children and has been a teachers aid for two years. She has had five years of vocal training and has been a high school outstanding vocalist. She has also studied piano and dancing. She is president of her Laurel class and plans to attend college, where she will major in elementary education. Kathryn is 17. An MHS senior she plays the clarinet in the concert band, enjoys sew'ing, knitting, music, sports. hiking and swimming. She has been president of the drill team and an attendant to the junior prom mistress. She plans to attend college. Debra is another MHS senior. She has been active in band, chorus and drama. She was a junior varsity cheerleader, a twirler with the marching band, a Girl Stater and a Rodeo Club secretary. He was introduced by former Senator Wallace F. Bennett in a series of press conferences held in Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden.. I believe the majority of Utahns do not want the level of spending supported by the incumbent. I believe most Utahns do not want the level of government control supported by the incumbent. Mr. Darger, an officer of Valley Bank and Trust Co., is familiar with the intricacies of state finance, having served for ten years in the Utah State Legislature, where he wa chairman of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee, of the Senate-Hous- e and Joint Appropriations Committee. An experienced money manager, he served for many years as financial secretary and business manager of the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Mr. Darger has been very active in Utah and Salt Lake City civic affairs. He served for many years as an officer of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and Retail Merchants Association. Mr. Massey was named as state chairman to succeed Robert Trepanir, who resigned. Mr. Massey was named by members of the state committee in a recent meeting in' Salt Lake." Mr. Massey has been active in the AP for several years, started his first official job as a precinct chairman. He next was elected Chairman of Sevier County and a member of the State Central Committee and State Executive Committee. In first place was Stacey Rasmussen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Juel Rasmussen. Second place went to Debra Snow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. MoRell Snow.
