Most of the awards were for merit badges earned since the last court of honor but 20 were advancements in rank. The top advancement went to Russell Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henrie Nielson, Manti North Ward, who received the much prized eagle sward. The eagle was presentedrto Russell by Wilbur Braithwaite, a member of the district advancement committee. Other Manti North advancements, presented by Scoutmaster J. R. Anderson, went to Milton Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Olsen, who received the life rank, and Brad Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill L. Cox, the star. The Ephraim West Ward troop, serving as host troop, conducted the flag ceremony and the closexercises. Scoutmaster ing Keith Beazer awarded the following rank advancements: Charles Towt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Towt, life; David New Years Eve Dance Planned for Married Couples in Manti Stake All married couples are invited to a New Years Eve dance sponsored by the Manti Utah Stake. The dance is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. in the Manti South Ward. Music will be povided by the Blue Notes. Refreshments representing will be four nationalities served. A program will be presented also. The evening will be under the direction of the stake Elders quorums and they encourage all to attend. Tickets are $5.00 per couple and can be purchased from any Elders quorum or at the door. Mark Christensen Named Poultryman of the Year Mark Christensen of Moroni, Utah was named Poultryman of the Year at the Utah Turkey Show held at the Hotel New-hou- se December 7th. He re- ceived a very nice plaque. Mark is an active turkey raiser having run flocks of 35,000 turkeys per year, up until this year when he cutback to 15,000 birds. Also he is president of the Moroni Feed Credit Union. He worked for Moroni Feed Company eight years as assistant to the manager.
