The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Price Lids Extended On Gas, Diesel Fuel By R Gregory Nokos Press ritcr A pnee freeze on WASHINGTON gasoline and diesel fuel will be continued until Aug 31, but will be lifted from other petroleum products this coming Monday, the Cost of Living Council announced Thursday i is the second time the freeze has been extended for gasoline and No 2 diesel fuel Originally it had been scheduled to expire for the oil industry along w ith the rest of the economy last Monday. Final Phase 4 regulations for the oil industry are scheduled to be released Fnday John T. Dunlop, director of the Cost of Living Council, indicated there would not be enough time for gasoline retailers to work out proposed new ceiling pnees by this coming Monday, the date the freeze expires on the rest of the industry Sticker Deadline The action means there can be no increase in the retail price of gasoline or diesel fuel pnor to Sept 1 That is also the deadline for gasoline retailers to post special government stickers on their gasoline pumps listing new pnee ceilings and octane ratings for gasoline. Meanwhile, a federal judge refused to issue a temporary injunction restraining the council from implementing the Phas 4 rules The National Congress of Petroleum Retailers, which represents 165,000 dealers, had sought the injunction in a suit against the council and Dunlop The retailers said the rules discriminated against them.
