After Thursdays play four golfers were tied at three under par 141 and if that holds up a playoff for the medalist watch will have to be held but that can be anytime, even after the tournament is completed. The playoff, as it appears now, would be a BYU versus Utah affair. Ron Branca, a University of Utah star this season, and a former Redskin, Reid Goodliffe, were tied with Cougar player Bob Lapic and young James Blair, who plans on enrolling at BYU this fall. The four put on a great show Thursday, especially Goodliffe and Blair who had a lot of ground to make up. Branca shot a one under 71 Thursday to go with his 70. Lapic had a 63 Thursday and a 73 Wednesday. Blair, who had a 74 Wednesday and was worried about even qualifying, charged back with a 67 but Goodliffe took the days honors. The Brigham City native had a 75 on Wednesday and shot a 66 Thursday to tie for the lead. Goodliffes mother went to the hospital for a cancer operation this week and she sent word up with her husband to tell Reid, Win this one for me. Emotional Lift ' 43 So.
