Construction started last summer on the first golf course at Bear Lake, and the layout should be ready for play late this summer with the course expected tc open officially in the spring of 1974. nine-hol- e Located in Bear Lake West the course overlooks 20 miles of the lake and the view from every tee and green is breath- taking. The course is lined with trees, crossed by a canal and nestled on the side of a mountain. The course was designed and constructed by Mark Dixon Ballif, one of the most prominent golf course architects in the West. Ballif designed the Patio Springs Country Club course, the Round Valley course in Morgan and the Logan has Golf and Country Club and the City municipal Bngharn course. He is the head pro at Patio Springs. The Bear Lake West course is not exceptionally long, it measures 2,647 yards from the championship tees, 2,524 from the regular tees and 2,289 from the ladies tees, but it has two large lakes, a creek, rolling, wooded hills and many natural hazards which will make it a real challenge. The course is plateaud different elevations which is fairway. No. 5, par-3- , 178 yards. This hole is situated below clubhouse and play can be followed from there. This is more interesting than it sounds because the golfer will have to play over a large lake with a spectacular spraying fountain. 175-ya- essential No. No. 510 yards. 1, par-5- , Downhill from clubhouse with a dogleg left toward Bear Lake and wide fairway and elEle- par-4yards. vated tee, rolling terrain in area Second shot landing must cross comer of a large lake to elevated green.
