Show co council uncil held its regular meeting 11 members were present at the session on friday evening nn of last week routine business transacted mayor Dep rezin and co inci in cilmon linen castleton griggs irons 0 bonnor ani and douglass were present at the last meeting of the city council held on inday evening of last week at which time considerable routine busin qs 13 vaa vas transacted A communication N was as read from the state loard of health asking the city to send a representative to theinert theine ct ing that is to be heu hell at salt lake on april jtb upon motion of councilman 0 connor ur dr L B lak r the city ity physician was to attend attend this meeting as tt d special representative of th cit church adeso presented a re auest for a retail liquor license dating fron aaril AI nl 1st fhe the aepli cat on a u was as acied by the usual load and the council took favorable act on in the matter instructing tt U t t recorder to issue the license kobert bobert chirca and lI herbert erbert alores presented petitions asking for the work ork of sprinkling main street dur ing the coaling coming sumar months there was no action taken with reference to these petitions but tile proposition will be taken ip at tha the next meeting of the council earlier continue continued on list page an important Imp orant session of the city council continued from first page in the year some of the councilmen council mett expressed themselves aa as being in fa vor of extending th sprinkling 1 in its taking in a larger part of 0 main street and perhaps portions ot of some of the other streets if it is ble to secure water from the city well ell this additional sprinkling could no doubt be done without increasing the expense to the city in the past the city has supplied the water for I 1 sprinkling from the water system and when a large amount was used on oil the streets it increased the city s water vater bill quite materially john kitt kill a request tor for a connect tion with ith the city water system was granted the same sanit to be made in ac corrance cor dance with the city ordinances the recorder W 11 bacon read a number of bills which were paid after they had bad received the endorse ment of the auditing committee the total disbursements of the evening amounted to 17 the committee on claims and ac counts reported adversely on the matter of paying marshal alien allen for the first five days of january this official officials s check for that month be ing short 0 0 because the former city marshal major church had re calved pay for the time which he put in after the first of january upon motion of councilman 0 connor sup ported by councilman castleton all of the present city officers who re a full month months s pay for the month of january will have five days pay deducted from their march checks the reason for this is that the new officers did not assume their duties until the ath of the month the money that is deducted from th checks will be paid over to the pre decess ors of the present officers mayor Dep rezin reLin stated that in his opinion it was time for a general cleanup clean up of the city he ile recommend ed d that property properly enera be asked to give their premises a thorough clean ing the discussion showed that the councilmen were all in favor of bring ing about better sanitary conditions and members ot of the local board of health will consequently get gel busy upon this proposition the matter of passing a new ardi nance compell ng ex pressmen and aad braymen to pay a license was up for discussion as waal wao also the question of the proper enforcement of the or denance which compels the payment of a license by any one edgag ng in the livery business it being alleged that the city is collecting from but one liveryman while others who are do ng practically the same kind of a business are paying nothing for this privilege the next meeting of the council m ill be held on april 3rd |
