These children know the facts of life in terms of words not in experience and if they take the experiences that illumine the facts of life they will surely suf ler tragedy Those experiences have been reserved by nature and custom for adults who are fitted to wrestle with them "We are perfectly safe" says the young girl How safe? As a matter of fact think this young lady could add five pounds to her new weight for it is a safeguard in the 'teens to have a little marginal'weight —but of course not 80 pounds extra! She has done a marvel- ous job of reducing on the pro- tective diet If I were planning a slimming menu especially for the 'teen age I would allow from 1400 to 1500 calories daily and all of them in the protective foods The growing girt must have daily: One quart of skim milk plus one hativer oil caiisule supplying 6000 to 10000' units of vitamin A one or two eggs: four slices whole wheat bread three pats of butter each inch thick and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and lean meat This list totals approximately 1500 calories The gentleman who found romance is a North Carolinian and he says: Your protective diet is youth Itself! I know for I have tried it for 12 months with the result I have lost 36 pounds and have brought my weight down to the Insurance average for my age and height I feel like a boy although I am 68 today! best of all the widow acrossthe street who wouldn't look at me before (and who was too fat herself) has noticed my improved looks and pep and is now reducing and we are going to get married— thanks to you!" Congratulations! We hope that they will keep slim and live happily ever after! A third letter is from a h reducer - whose friends tell her that she looks very much younger She writes: "I also lost 60 pounds in one year! In November 1939 I weighed 195 pounds—and I am only five feet two inches tall! I received your 'Twenty-on- e Day Diet' and stayed on it until I 133 reached pounds I feel fin and would ' never want to be stout again I am 53 years old but I can take long walks and my heart is so much better What I would like to know is how I can stay at this weight?" The articles on Monday and Tuesday of next week will tell ah of you how to keep slim Until you reach that point it is perfectly safe to follow the "Twenty-on- e Day Diet"—even though you keep repeating it— for the diet contains all the es sential protective elements The only stipulation is that you do not lose faster than two pounds per week ThrooWeek's Beauty Diet—lath nal Breakfast Calories Orange juldt IA glum bit Peaebed egg en OM ghee wheal wilooS "Meg IA 11116 biltkir lea ()ones Meat 00 203 looeloon Baked ham on rye bread (mustard so 250 butter) Bead lettuce with 1 tablespoon French gremd n 75 Hot tea 1 lump sugar 23 350 Dimmer SOO Broiled teak—artin off ail fat Raked 100 Butter lAviadt thick - 50 hireetail 50 Demi bum 500 1035 Total for day Day -- I I (1 - Va:t-----'tr — i ita 67z-"Z'''U- r- -- - J1i 1 1 4±:z--r- t t 1 2- -- c' ‘4 C A ' a' Sp pi - : jo! 1 ' tik7 1 1 t If s '"IM ' t N I fi I If 4 ilitfr ) A! r 17i'A '11 1N ' I i- - 1 Tveti-'- 1 1 I i opip tt' x 1 11 90 ik ! v 4 l1 lo-L- N Ai t4 7 t44-- 4ut IIIV A k - z- - gintIS' Pt G t2: v — le7 7"01111 N: i ? tt o'llt 'ci-- 1 qe21 ) Avi se ihe- M A 1 I' 3 7S p k I41- 41 °re th- i I t s - ns in distinctive prints A It' Ar V 1 I :fi1- jr- : t- 2 and lunchfirst round of spring parties eons!
