activities of the Stansbury are well known in local circles Eer since they organized in February 1933 more than six years go they have steadily advanced The ship was organized with the following original personnel: William C Ware skipper J William Guthrie first mate and Sea Scouts Scott Hammill Lawrence Dobson Van Nyman James Hewes Jack Carter Hai Cutshall Wajne Meier and Murry Cane In January 1934 Scott Hammill In Janwas made second mate uary 1936 Mr Ware was made commodore of the Salt Lake squadron and Stanley H Evans was made skipper of the Stansbury at that time In November 1936 Van C Nyman was made third mate About that time Bill Guthrie was given a leave absence and in January 1938 when Mr Guthrie was taken on as an alumni member of the ship Scott Hammill was promoted to first mate and Van Nyman to second mate o--f Sponsored by 888 Club The ship is sponsored by the 888 club of the Third Presbyterian chuich located at Seventeenth South and Eleventh East streets The
