Show HILLTOP TIMES Commander's Cup Golf Tournament Museum seeking volunteers for annual food drive The Hill Aerospace Museum's Food for Life Committee is seeking approximately 100 volunteers to assist in coordinating and hosting this year's Food for Life Day at the museum. The event will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sept. 20. Volunteers will assist with everything from set-up to teardown, coordinating the car show activities, crowd control, food donation collection, and entertainment, among other things. The Food for Life Day is an annual food drive/open-aircraft event where the general public is invited to get a rare glimpse inside some of the museum's most vintage aircraft. The day will also feature the Wings and Wheels car show, an Air Force Association Chili Cook-Off, a DJ, food vendors, and the Ogden Concert Band. The 2014 Commander's Cup Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 2 at Hill AFB's Hubbard Golf Course. All proceeds benefit the Hill Aerospace Museum. Cost is $150 per golfer, which includes green's fees, cart, food and prizes. Tournament format is a Las Vegas Modified Scramble. Four-person teams will be assigned a golf pro or scratch amateur to make a fiveperson team. Check in begins at 10:30 a.m. with a golf clinic held at 11:15 a.m. The tournament begins at noon followed by an awards dinner in the club house. CFC 5K Fun Run/Walk A 5K fun run/walk, sponsored by Hill's Combined Federal Campaign committee, will be held Aug. 20 at the Warrior Fitness Center Track. Participation in the event is free, but for a $20 donation to support the upcoming CFC campaign, participants will receive a pull-string bag/water bottle or a prior year CFC T-shirt. Residents around Hill may notice an increase in aircraft arrivals and departures through Aug. 22 as the 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron conducts the U.S. Air Force airto-ground exercise known as Combat Hammer and air-to-air exercise known as Combat Archer. Four units have deployed to Hill and three units will travel directly to the Utah Test and Training Range to drop munitions in realistic combat scenarios. With support from the 388th Fighter Wing and 75th Air Base Wing, 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron Airmen will collect and analyze data on how these precision weapons perform and their suitability for use in combat. Units participating in the Air Force Weapons System Evaluation Program for air-to-surface and air-to-air munitions, known as Combat Hammer and Combat Archer, include: F-16s from Hill AFB and Aviano Air Base, Italy; F-15Es from Royal Air Forces Lakenheath, U.K.; AC-130s from Cannon AFB, N.M.; and F-15Es from Mountain Home MQ-9s from Creech AFB, Nev., will participate from other locations.
