Show 6 HILLTOP TIMES TIME S Dec. 6, 2012 "That selfmotivation is absolutely amazing." LT. COL. JOHNATHAN LOWE, 348th RCS commander, as he talked about the recruiters in his squadron 348TH From page 1 marks brief, "so he could get to work early." In an interview held recently, Lowe noted that the 348th RCS was reactivated in part because of the need to handle administration for the individual flights within the 348th RCG. He noted that all three recruiting groups in the continental United States had reactivated such squadrons within a week or two of each other. The squadrons will make it possible for the group commanders to focus on their traditional duties and leave the administrative tasks to the reactivated squadrons, thus allowing the squadron commanders to take up those duties keeping a better focus on the various flights administrative needs. The lieutenant colonel reported it has been a great opportunity to expand his areas of experience and learn about recruiting in just the few short weeks he has been in Utah. The squadron's office is located in an area near hospitals and medical offices, with a flight nearby to aid in the recruitment process. Recruiters are NCOs and senior NCOs with medical backgrounds, often medical technicians. As recruiters they are second and third tier proven recruiters having already served as successful recruiters. A second tier recruiter has served one tour and a third tour recruiter has served two previous tours. Lowe said his recruiters take the recruitment process to a personal level, often noting if they themselves would want to work with the medical professional they are recruiting or if they would want their children to be seen by the professional being recruited. They are, after all, recruiting medical professionals who will serve as officers. He has been particularly impressed with the motivation of his recruiters. "That self-motivation is absolutely amazing," he said, noting that often all they get for their achievements is the ability to wear a certain silver or gold medal on their uniforms and the satisfaction of knowing they have reached certain percentage standards. Lowe was also complimentary of the education levels all his recruiters have achieved. "Everyone has some type of degree themselves, they are motivated and it warms my heart to see that. I encourage that." The new squadron commander previously served at U.S. Strategic Command at Offut, Air Force Base, Nebraska, as a space and missile officer. Air Force Materiel Command Wellness Support Center W RIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Throughout December and January, Air Force Materiel Command will be promoting the "Do You Know Your Numbers" wellness campaign. This campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of knowing your numbers to help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. "To better understand their health status, it is helpful for individuals to know how they compare to recommended health indicators," said AFMC's Wellness Coordinator Greg Chadwick. "These indicators are a list of 'numbers' — blood pressure, good and bad cholesterol, blood glucose, and body mass index are all numbers that help individuals identify their own health status." The goal of the "Do You Know Your Numbers" campaign is to increase participation in Cardio Risk Profile screenings and educate individuals on how risk factors impact their health, with l p one riving one W use w hi lll 9 1111 e IDS base is cess to the base. The AFI was issued earlier this year. Hill Air Force Base began scanning ID cards in April of this year and is steadily moving forward to issuing PACS/DBIDS cards to those who require them. All retired military personnel should note that their DoD-issued ID will not need to be replaced unless it is the old manually produced laminated paper DD Form 2AF or a DD Form 2AF that was issued prior to January 2003. All individuals accessing the base are asked to exercise patience during the transition process. Security Assistant Sam Ingram, 75th Security Forces Squadron, said that every effort will be made to keep the base secure and delays to a minimum. For more information, contact Sam Ingram at 801-586-2360 or Staff Sgt. Jerelle Faust at 801-777-8631 or you can email them at samuel.ingram@ hill.af.mil or jerelle.faust@hill.af.mil From page 1 ID. Those who visit the base on a weekend upon that first visit will be given a chance to re-enter the base to secure their ID as necessary if the previously mentioned agencies or the security manager is not available because of the weekend hours.
