Show _J O r ti r ti AWARD SUPPLEMENT TO THE HILLTOP TIMES THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 2012 7 Hill professional security specialists receive SFPC BY MARY Lou GORNY Hilltop Times editor 0 n March 29, professional certifications conferred by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence were presented at Hill Air Force Base. Col. Don Hickman, acting commander for the 75th Air Base Wing, presented the Security Fundamentals Professional Certifications (SFPC) which demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles critical to protect Defense Department assets and promote professional understanding. This is a part of the Department of Defense's Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. Three bases provided beta tests on the new certifications to their professional GS-080 security specialists: Hill Air Force Base, Wright-Patterson AFB and Joint Base Anacostia-Boling. The certificates, numbered and tracked by the DoD, require continual learning points to keep current. Standard-Examiner staff R IVERDALE — Hanging in a hallway of the Pentagon is a picture of Bob Ramos, 86, dressed in his U.S. Air Force blues — the uniform he wore during a long and distinguished career. The photograph is part of the U.S. Air Force Public Affairs Agency's Pioneers in Blue program. Master Sgt. (Ret.) Norberto Ramos, is among 39 Air Force veterans, including medal recipients, historic figures and mentors, recognized in the program's second year for their contributions to the service. The first year recognized astronaut Buzz Aldrin and pilot Chuck Yeager. Ramos, a veteran of three wars, feels honored that someone of such humble beginnings is recognized at the national head- TECH. WILLIAMS/U.S. Air Force Norberto "Bob" Ramos — a World War II, Korea and Vietnam veteran — served in the Army after the draft and later chose to join the Air Force, where he worked as a security forces member.
