Retired Air Force Lt. Col. James H. Harvey III will speak about his experiences including being the first African American pilot to fly combat missions over Korean airspace. The base's African American Heritage Committee helped arrange the event with the help of the Hill Aerospace Heritage Foundation. Staff Sgt. Tchaikovsky Crosley of the 75th Security Forces Squadron said he's excited the base and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to learn about African American history and Air Force history in one venue. Come out for some laughs, some entertainment and to support Team Hill teens. WSU Military Appreciation night Weber State University men's basketball is having a Military Appreciation night for the Thursday, Feb. 2, game against Portland State. The military appreciation includes complimentary admission — courtesy of America First Credit Union — for military and civilian Hill AFB personnel who show their ID. Weber State (16-4, 8-1) will host Portland State (10-11, 4-5) at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. This complimentary admission includes the ID cardholder and five family members. Super Bowl at Landing, Bowling Center The Landing Sports Grill has joined forces with the Hill Bowling Center to offer a full day of fun, prize drawings, food and 14 screens full of football action, The Bowling Center will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bowl two or more games for your chance to win a 40-inch flatscreen TV. Just turn in your receipt at the Landing on game day for the drawing. BY MARY Lou GORNY Hilltop Times editor T he 75th Logistics Readiness Squadron's Fuels Management Flight earned the American Petroleum Institute Trophy at the AFMC level for its work during Fiscal Year 2011. According to Captain Joel Fox, the Fuels Management Flight commander, "The award takes into consideration what we do to complete the whole person concept on a flight level. It tracks what our Airmen, NCOs, senior NCOs and commissioned officers do to make themselves, their community and their base better." Fox also stated, "The award takes into account our duty performance, the significant improvements we've made, the amount of product we've issued and our safety record." The Fuels Management Flight sustains the daily fuel, cryogenic and hypergolic (rocket propellant) demands of the 75th Air Base Wing, the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings and the 309th Maintenance Wing providing 12.8 million gallons of fuel to 5,000 aircraft. Those 5,000 aircraft include the number of individual aircraft refuelings and depot aircraft in for maintenance.
