The group sent 12 members and one Explosive Ordnance Disposal member in full gear up the stairs Feb. 26. The team came in second overall for the first four firefighters averaged times in full gear, just mere seconds behind the Salt Lake City team. "What impresses me most is that in a real life situation they would have to climb the building and before resting they would have to rescue anyone in danger," said Spencer Slade, organizer for the sixth annual event. Slade said many types of competitors participate and they notice an effect on their lungs as they make the effort to climb 400 feet.
