Supervisors and leaders will hold respective Winter Wingman Days for their units sometime between Feb. 14 and 25, depending on schedules and workload. "This event was wellthought out and tailored to fit the needs of the personnel at Hill," said Rita Roybal, Wingman Advocates director. A Hill Air Force Base video will feature interviews of Hill AFB personnel who have faced and overcome adversity through various healthy coping strategies with a special focus on enhancing resiliency. The competition in which the teams are given only a certain amount of time to come up with a way to fulfill a broad assignment area and specific elements their robot must complete creates an opportunity to demonstrate creativity and problem solving abilities. OPERATION JOINT DAWN T he 75th Security Forces Squadron will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint Feb. 19. The locations will be in the parking lot adjacent to Southgate Avenue next to the softball fields, and the outbound lane of Roy Gate. The traffic checkpoints will focus on vehicle safety, license and seat belt awareness, insurance and registration checks, driving while under the influence and other safety issues. For more see Page 9. t's been two years since the Hill "Warriors" basketball team was created in 2009, but despite still being a relative newcomer, the team boasts many years of experience, not to mention heart and determination. "We started with nothing," said Airman 1st Class George Covington, a member of the 75th Force Support Squadron and forward for the team. "We had no team, no coach and no uniforms," he continued.
