Show HILLTOP TIMES 6 TIMES May 6, 2010 See Me Save Me Ride of the Day part of May 24 day of fun safety events BY MARY LOU GORNY Hilltop Times editor O n May 24, among other varied activities, Hill Air Force Base will hold a See Me Mave Me Ride of the Day inviting both on-base and offbase riders to participate in a large en mase ride. The ride's purpose is to help remind motorists just how many motorcycles are out on the road. On-base riders will meet at the motorcycle safety course near the South Gate at 11 a.m. sharp. The ride will start at 11:30 a.m. and go through the base past all the venues held that day as other safety day activities are held. Once off base the Utah Highway Patrol will escort the riders to Hill Aerospace Museum and off-base riders are invited to join them there as they make their way through communities likely to CONSTRUCTION From page 1 temperature control of the Airman Annex and resulting in energy efficiencies. Anyone interested should contact their unit motorcycle safety coordinator so Allan Woods, Installation Motorcycle Safety coordinator, will know how many riders to expect. The ride will end at the museum. Because the day is a safety day no annual leave is necessary to participate in the ride for Department of Defense civilians or military members. Woods reminds motorcycle riders that there are safety in numbers and he says that a demonstration such as this serves to remind motorists that they share the road with many more motorcycle riders than they realize, ultimately contributing to the safety of other riders. Patients will need to enter via the southeast door near the Dental Clinic. "We've got a 35-year-old building ... At the end of the day, we'll have a brilliant clinic for our patients and providers, and I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while we do what we need to do to improve the clinic," said Hickman. Patient safety and service will continue to be a top priority for the 75th MDG personnel as the project is under way, representatives emphasize. Regular news releases and information will be included in Hilltop Times coverage to help with the adjustments to access services at the facility. Advocates in association with the SARC's Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Along with representatives of various sexual assault prevention resources found throughout Utah, the luncheon also featured the firsthand account of the effects of sexual assault by guest speaker Jodi Carlson, sister of Judge Advocate Lt. Col. Craig Burton. Carlson told the story of how her next door friends' father, who was a member of her church's leadership and a well-known member of the community, began to touch and treat her inappropriately. He even started doing favors for her family, including offering her a job at his dentist office. As things progressed, the attention he gave her became more and more inappropriate, but Carlson recalls that she didn't feel like a victim, instead she felt guilty. • "I didn't tell anyone at the time because I felt guilty, as if it were my fault," Carlson said. "I did tell him 'no' a couple of times," she added. But when I did he would withhold things from his kids, things like trips to the movies. When this happened he would look at me as he told them, as if it were my fault. As Carlson continued, she told the audience how things continued to progress until one night her neighbor offered her a ride home from work, but instead began to take her in another direction. "I knew what was going to happen," Carlson explained. "I said, 'Well, my mom is waiting for me at home, so I need to get home.'" At that point, Carlson said she finally realized that she no longer had to put up with her neighbor's abuse. "All of a sudden something clicked, and I thought, 'You know, I don't have to do it anymore,'" she said SERVICE the road, that (the Airmen) will know what's out there.
