She also mentioned that the leaders were hoping to take some of the older children on an overnight camping trip. "We're going to do a lot of shooting sports,11 (Danyluk added when asked about upcoming activi- ties. "We'll use the range here on base." For now, the leaders are working on signing their members up for hunter education courses. "(The class) gives them a really good background and training for using guns and (gun) safety," Danyluk said. "We're encouraging them all to take it." Aside from providing a chance for children to connect with the outdoors, the Military 4-H Club also offers them a chance to learn and have fun. "(The parents) were really grateful just to have an outlet like this," Danyluk said. Operation Purple Camps for families with deployed spouses or parents T he Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyo., and the National Military Family Assocation are now hosting Operation Purple Camps and Operation Purple Family Retreats for families with deployed spouses or parents or for families whose spouse or parent has recently returned home. :The camps are open to military children of all rajoks and services. The retreats are for service members and their families who have been deployed within the last three to 15 months. Both the camps arid retreats are free and cost of travel may be refupded. !The next dates for the family retreat are July 2 through July 6, and registration for these dates and the camps will begin on March 15. The annual membership fee for the 4-H Club is $5 and there is no limit to the number of 4-H clubs a child can join.
