TIMES December 18, 2008 Understanding these responsibilities is essential to the success of the VPP program. The Air Force Safety and Health Program is explained in AFI91-301. Here is a summary of responsibility: Air Force (Management) 1. Comply with OSHA and AFOSH standards. 2. Set up procedures for submitting and responding to reports of unsafe and unhealthful work conditions. 3. Acquire, maintain and require the use of approved personal protective equipment and safety equipment. 4. Inspect all workplaces at least annually, with participation from representatives of civilian employees. 5. Establish procedures to ensure that personnel are not subject to restraint, interference, coercion, discrimination or reprisal for exercising their rights under the Air Force Occupational Safety and Health program. 6. Post notices of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions found during inspections. 7. Ensure prompt abatement of hazardous conditions. Personnel exposed to such conditions shall be informed of the abatement plan. Corrections shall be made immediately for imminent danger situations. 8. Set up a management information system to keep records of occupational mishaps, injuries, illnesses and their causes, and to post an annual summary of injuries and illnesses for a minimum of 30 days at each installation. 9. Conduct occupational safety and health training for all Air Force personnel. Employee 1.
