Lloyd Volunteer nominations due Monday The Airman and Family Readiness Center is taking nomination for the Air Force Volunteer Excellence Award, which recognizes federal civilian employees and their family members, military and civilian retirees and the family members of active duty personnel who perform outstanding volunteer service of a sustained, direct and consequential nature. Voluntary service may be performed in the local community or on the installation or a combination of both. This award recognizes long-term commitment and community support rather than a single act or achievement. Volunteer service which is "significant in character, produces tangible results and reflects favorably upon the United States Air Force" is the type of volunteer service recognized by this award. In order that an individual be recognized, they must be nominated by either a supervisor or by the voluntary agency for which they donated their service. Nominations may be submitted on an AF Form 1206 or in letter format and should be submitted by Monday. Submit nominees to Ed Brisley, Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 150, or electronically to ed.brisley@hill.af.mil. Almost a year after the first F-22 arrived for maintenance at Hill AFB with much fanfare, the final aircraft in the initial contract workload was quietly completed and flown back to Langley AFB, Va., on April 2. The workload presented challenges to the F-22 Division, 309th Aircraft Maintenance Group, but the 36 mechanics and support staff — assisted by the 649th Combat Logistics Support Squadron and Lockheed Martin -- completed the job early, with no late deliveries and no reported defects. "The technicians accomplished the NAAR modification in conjunction with training the workforce, operating from "temporary See F-22 complete, 7 Community shows support for Team Hill members BY AIRMAN 1ST CLASS CLAY MURRAY 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Airmen honored BY MITCH SHAW 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Three Hill Air Force Base Airmen were among 14 service members honored in a ceremony at the Navy's Kauffman Explosives Ordnance Disposal Training Complex on Eglin Air Force Base, Saturday. More the 500 people looked on as Hill AFB EOD team members Tech. Sgt. Timothy Werner, Senior Airman Daniel Miller and Senior Airman Elizabeth Loncki had their names added to the memorial wall at the training complex. The three Airmen were members of the 775th Civil Engineer Squadron's EOD Flight who were deployed in support of the Global War on Terror. The flight is responsible for diffusing military and improvised explosives and working with chemical and biological weapons. The sportsmen and sportswomen gathered for the event, Salute to Team Hill, in order to thank servicemembers and show their appreciation for what the Hill workforce does in support of the Global War on Terror. About 625 people attended the event. "We're lucky as Americans to have the opportunities to come out meet men and women like yourselves that go out on the line everyday," said Ron James, one of the Utah Blaze coaches. "We talk as football coaches all the time about dedication, discipline, hard work and the United States Air Force exemplifies all of those traits." The Utah Blaze was just one of the organizations that attended the event. Mr. James and Travis Cole, the quarterback from the Blaze attended, the Real Salt Lake soccer team attended, and the Harley Davidson Blaze and Utah Jazz Nu Skin dancers were there.
